From Beijing, Jenny Xu won "China Model Star Contest Top Ten Most Photogenic Model" in 2006. A year ago, she officially started developing her career in Hong Kong. Earlier she shot an advertisement with Moses Chan, it was rumored that Kevin Cheng and Jenny were match-made together by Moses. Although she denied dating Kevin, every time she speaks of Kevin, she would always let out a sweet smile. She said: "I don't watch much TV, only know that he is an artist, don't even know his name. He is my friend's friend and is not as complicated as you all make it seem. That night, I went to his house with a friend, there were other people who were there too. (What do you think of him?) He is a lot older than me, like a big brother, very gentlemen. (Is there a chance to develop further?) I don't know how the future is. Romance, just let it flow naturally."

Coming to Hong Kong to work alone, she would feel lonely and wants to date. Jenny's ideal partner is someone who is mature, but that does not mean someone older and appearance is not that important. When asked if Kevin would be a even better boyfriend since he's mature and handsome? She smiled: "We are all just wishing." She said that she is not dating currently and when she does in the future, she will admit it. Jenny then denied that she's familiar with Moses: "We only met during work, we didn't keep in touch after nor does she have his phone number."

Yesterday Charmaine Sheh accepted a CRHK interview. She reveals that her new series Can't Buy Me Love averaged at 33 points, peaking at 37 points. As for the complaints about TVB broadcasting the Philippines tour bus incident prior to the Can't premiere, Charmaine felt that it is TVB's decision or they weren't able to change the schedule in such a short time period. She stressed: "Hope Can't Buy Me Love can constantly send out positive energy and relieve everyone a bit in this unhappy moment." Charmaine hopes Can't will be like Beyond reaching 50 points. Speaking of Louis Yuen once saying that if the ratings averaged 50 points, he asks the female cast to wear men swim trunks, she laughed: "I want to discuss this with Kam Jeh (Lee Heung Kam) and Kuk Jeh (Susanna Kwan)."

Charmaine expressed that later Can't will have more promotions, and won't be embarrassed to see Moses Chan. Before it was said that she had romantic injuries, so she went back to Mainland to film series. Charmaine said that she wasn't in Hong Kong and didn't see the reports. She also reveals that in her new series Colorful World of Sister Fa, she plays a girl with 10 year old mentality, which is a child role, so she only puts on little foundation daily, almost appearing with plain colors. Speaking of rumored boyfriend Kevin Cheng's birthday earlier, she said that she did not give him a gift, but did send him a SMS wishing him a happy birthday, he also replied with a "Thank You".

Also last night, Moses Chan, Charmaine Sheh, Lee Heung Kam, Susan Tse, Louis Yuen and the cast for Can't Buy Me Love were recording a new episode for Super Trio Game Master. Kam Jeh even played with the younger generation without fear, but Charmaine was worried she might get lower back pains, fearing that she'll play so much she'll forget about her old injuries. Moses Chan expressed that the games are much less challenging than before.

Last night, the shy boy Moses was often getting teased. As for Can't reaching 37 points in ratings, Louis Yuen wanted Moses to wear a triangle swimsuit to make coffee. All the other artists applaud in support of the idea, making Moses ears turn red and laughed foolishly, but he didn't oppose to Louis either. Moses was slightly surprised by the high ratings, he believes that the series can bring relaxation and happiness to audience.

Charmaine and Moses played "ping pong sucking", but even after a few times they didn't touch lips, Eric expressed that it wasn't acceptable, so the studio audience shouted loudly "Bernice Liu" to harass Moses, making him lose to Charmaine.

Famous child’s arts and crafts program Mister Maker began its Asian tour recently. Yesterday, Wayne Lai was invited to be the program’s guest for the Hong Kong region – the show will air on BBC’s children’s network. Asked how he felt about ‘debuting’ on the international scene, Wayne smiled and said he felt very happy.

Wayne expressed that he constantly works on craft projects with his son at home and feels that this is a great way to strengthen their father-son bond. His son likes to make little presents for mom and she loves to receive them. Asked if he is worried about his son drifting apart from him and his wife when he grows older, Wayne laughed and replied: “Probably won’t be that quick; in fact, just yesterday, he was listening to a ghost story and got so scared that he didn’t want to sleep all alone by himself, so he came over to sleep with us in our room -- it was quite cute. Of course, we were young once and so we definitely understand that some day, our son will want to be independent and move away, but hopefully, that will be a long ways off.”

Regarding the tragedy in the Philippines, Wayne indicated that he felt all sorts of emotions about the situation – deep pain, helplessness, sorrow, and anger. “I don’t understand why so much time was wasted and the hostages still couldn’t be saved. I saw in the newspapers today that the gunman only requested 1 million pesos, which is equal to about HKD$100,000 – that amount would have been easy to raise with contributions from just the tour group members alone – so why didn’t the Philippine government agree to the amount? If a few hundred thousand dollars could have saved the tourists, Hong Kong citizens would have most definitely paid the money without question!”

After seeing how the tragic situation in the Philippines played out, Wayne admitted that he is utterly disappointed with the country: “I told my son never to go to the Philippines, I won’t go either. The police force is supposed to be a safety net, but yet they can’t even do their basic jobs correctly – this is a reflection on the government and their inabilities when it comes to ensuring people’s safety.”

Angela Yang (also known as AngelaBaby) has been under attack from scathing reports alleging that she had gone under the knife for cosmetic enhancements.

The rumour mill got to work again recently as the news resurfaced and her old photograph was even dug up to use as comparison to her current look.

"Those people keep harping on the rumours as if my whole face is fake. That old photo was taken when I was wearing braces so my face looked swollen. Moreover, the camera angle wasn't good."

The model revealed that she has plans to visit a doctor for an X-ray to refute the surgery claims after finding out that actress Fan Bingbing had done something similar. Angela denied taking this move because of her boyfriend.

"I feel very tired from having to handle the stress (of the rumours). All my friends have touched my face before and know I'm innocent."

She added that her company is now trying to contact suitable doctors and should be doing the check-up at the end of the year.

Despite her anger at the report, the star broke into a smile when reporters brought up her rumoured beau Huang Xiao Ming, but avoided directly answer questions related to him.

The pair has been rumoured to be seeing each other since last year. In an earlier report, when asked if the two of them are indeed together, Xiao Ming reportedly hinted at the relationship when he told reporters that he "is not good at lying and cannot reveal too much".

Jackie Chan Kong-sang is allaying fears the botched rescue operation in Manila would put Filipinos living in Hong Kong in harm's way.

In his twitter account, the Hollywood martial arts star extended his friendship to Filipinos and told them not to worry.

"We do not hate," he said.

Later, he added: "We already have so many natural disasters - typhoons, tsunamis, everything! We should be united and not kill or hate each other."

Chan also expressed sympathy for the widely derided Philippine police.

"If they had killed the gunman sooner, many would ask why they didn't negotiate first. And if they negotiated first, they'd ask why they didn't kill him sooner," Chan said. "So sad."

Manila officials, at least this time around, were quick to respond.

"Thank you, Mr Chan, for extending a hand of friendship," presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said.

"We grieve the tragedy. We hope the Hong Kong people will also understand our situation."

Yesterday Fala Chen dressed up nicely to attend the opening ceremony of shoe brand ECCO's new store. She admitted that lately she has been accepting more jobs, helping to promote her new series Can't Buy Me Love and taking the advantage to earn extra income, a double win. Speaking of the high ratings for the first episode, Fala said that there is a relation with the Philippines bus hostage incident that occurred that night of broadcast, but she does hope the ratings will continue rise. She really put in a lot of effort to film this series, especially the fighting scenes. Charmaine Sheh and Moses Chan have really funny scenes together.

As an American citizen, turns out that Fala has never been to the Philippines before. Fala explained: "I have a US passport, the country has long classified the local area as high altitude hazardous area. Because of safety reasons, it was suggested that Americans should not go there if not for any important reason. Back then my classmate suggested that we all go to the Philippines for a vacation, but in the end we never went."

TVB series Can't Buy Me Love premiere last night and received 36 points in TV ratings, with about 2.3 million viewers. However, the BA received 11 complaint on TVB's schedule to broadcast a comedy was inappropriate. Initially the cast for Can't Buy Me Love were going to hold a celebration for the high ratings, but Producer Miu Siu Ching canceled the celebration and said that the main idea for the series is to convey a message of love.

In response to the Philippines incident, Charmaine Sheh and Linda Chung had different reactions.

Charmaine said: "So contradictory, don't plan to celebrate. My emotions have not recovered yet. When I saw the news last night, I couldn't hold in my tears."

Linda said: "News is news, series is series, why will it be awkward? Although I am concerned of human lives, I will still support the series. (It's not the appropriate atmosphere to broadcast a comedy?) I don't know how to answer, but I believe TVB did not deliberately schedule this."

The night before, when the news came out of the tour bus hostages in the Philippines, TV ratings reached 31 points, with about 2 million viewers. However at 2pm yesterday afternoon, TVB received 12 complaints that constant reports of "all hostages dead" is disturbing. The BA received 11 complaints on the bloody news reports, lost in reality and broadcasting a relaxing show at an inappropriate time. iCable received 2 complaints for similar reasons. Also, the night before, there was a news reporter who said a swear word, TVB director of foreign affairs (Tsang Sing Ming) said that the person who swore wasn't a TVB reporter. It was a time of disorder, believe viewers will understand.

Charmaine Sheh, Raymond Lam , Toby Leung and the rest of the cast to TVB new series Colorful World of Sister Fa attended the blessing ceremony. In the series, Charmaine plays a girl with a mental age of 10, and especially got a foolish Bob haircut for the role. She also visited the school for the mentally challenged and learned from the children there. Every time Charmaine films a series, she's always rumored with the male lead, but before when she worked with Raymond in The Drive of Life, there were no rumors. Raymond laughed: "Before when I was filming with her, she was rumored with other people, I really have to reflect a little, perhaps I am not charming enough. There should be some rumors for this series!" Charmaine explained that not having any rumors with Raymond is the media's issue: "No rumors then that's good! (Are you afraid of rumors that you dislike him?) Why would I dislike Prince Fung! We have collaborated several times, known each other for a long time. An enjoyable collaboration is good."

Charmaine expressed that there is a challenge portraying this role because she has to be a girl with a mental age of 10 and develop a relationship with Raymond. She said: "My role is the female version of Ah Wong, but Roger Kwok's role already left a deep impression on viewers. I'm already 30+ years old, trying to portray a mental age of 10 girl, making it convincing is the most challenging. I went to visit the mentally challenged schools and learned the children lifestyles there."

Disappointed of low ratings

Raymond has always been supported as the candidate for the TV King title this year, but unfortunately his new series Growing Through Life is not getting good ratings, he frankly said that he is a bit disappointed: "Somewhat disappointed, we filmed the series for 5 months and I had to prepare for my concert in between, it was pretty difficult during filming. I feel the ratings were affected by the unfamiliar Mainland faces coupled with the fact that the series already finished broadcasting in Mainland. (Affect your chances of becoming TV King?) Don't stir it up so fast! Don't stir it on me! Every year, I really don't know what to say, I just want to focus on doing my part. I am also most happy that I was able to learn from Damien Lau and improve my acting. (Don't want to mention TV King because afraid of gossips or to attract criticisms due to your popularity?) It is boring, afraid to say too much."

No mood to celebrate

Can't Buy Me Love although received high ratings, Charmaine has no mood to celebrate due to the Philippines hostage incident. Also the national mourning in the Philippines is not getting anywhere. She hopes that Can't will bring happiness to viewers and relax a bit. Also, Wayne Lai accepted Eileen Cha's interview and when asked about Can't's good ratings, he expressed that it's bringing pressure to the haven't been broadcast anniversary series No Regrets.

Back then she became popular from Chiung Yao's series, so this time just by one call from Chiung Yao, Sheren immediately agrees to take part in the drama. Sheren expressed that she watched the original version of HZGG and the Empress role left a deep impression. She accepted this role because of the script and dialogue that interest her.

Sheren has always had a very professional attitude towards work. According to what the crew knows, on the first day of filming, Sheren spent a long time doing the make-up and requested that a large mirror to be placed in front of her, convenient for her to see make-up, costumes and overall appearance. Before filming, she would arrive at the set 30 minutes early and rehearse the scenes with other cast members. On the second day of filming, she took the initiative to look over the recorded scenes in the video cutting room and see if anything needs to be improved.

Yesterday a Hong Thai Travel Agency tour bus going to Manila, Philippines was hijacked by a former police officer, he held the tourists in hostage. Eight Hong Kong tourists were killed from the hijack, the incident shocked the entire city! Alex To and Jessica C. who are both of Philippine descent expressed their grief and felt the incident were terrifying.

Alex To's father is a Hispanic-Filipino mix, he just returned to HK from Taiwan yesterday. Alex expressed that his whole family were at home watching the incident happen live on TV. He said: "I heard there were hostages that died, really hard to believe. I will pray for them. (There were some hostages rescued?) Lucky that there were survivors, the earlier reports said that all the hostages died, really terrifying. This kind of things cannot be said so randomly. The hostages' family members who see the report really can get frightened to death. If I were them, I would definitely have fainted."

Speaking of the slow rescue by the Philippines police, Alex could not help but blast at them: "The police should have worked faster in the rescue. They were too slow in the operation, too afraid and no planning. How can they use a rope to pull the door down? It's a whole team of police officers against one person, it's a pity that those hostages were killed, there wasn't even a helicopter. They should have use two big lights blasting into the tour bus, how can they just throw a few glow sticks and go in like that? Useless! My father seeing the Philippines police being so inefficient is very disappointed!"

Jessica Hsuan, Myolie Wu and Sunny Chan attended the blessing ceremony for TVB new costume drama The King and the Phoenixes. In the series, Jessica and Myolie do everything they can to win favor from the King, but behind-the-scenes it they are having enjoyable collaboration. Jessica said: "I get bullied by Myolie in the series, so I harm other people to protect myself. It's quite realistic, being able to film a drama like this, I have no regrets in life." Jessica admits that when she sees her four-word-phrase lines, she gets a headache: "I don't 100% understand my lines and can't really act into a deeper level. Luckily there was Sunny who directed Myolie and I the whole time. I am learning how to act in all over again." Although the story to Phoenixes is similar to War and Beauty and Beyond the Realm of Conscience, Jessica is not afraid of being compared: "I'm not afraid, I never thought about that topic, worry about myself first! I also didn't watch the those two series."

Playing as the evil empress, Myolie is currently working hard on practicing her vicious eye expressions. She said: "Sometimes I practice so much I feel like throwing up! (Ask Bosco Wong to help you practice?) I practice in front of the mirror. This series, sometimes can get really emotional, I am also afraid I'll go crazy too, so I often try to rest more. (Are you afraid that people will compare you and Tavia Yeung?) Comparison is good competition, that's how there is improvement."

The Mr. Hong Kong Contest 2010 is held tonight (8/21, 8:30PM HKT). Due to the numerous belittling men complaints, TVB decided to change the stage design that prevents the female judges from touching the male contestants. This year the female judges will have to watch from a distance and cannot reach out to have any body contact with the men. However, Christine Ng who has always had an 'outstanding' performance in the previous Mr. Hong Kong, wasn't affected by the new regulations because this year she's one of the MCs. She'll be on stage with the male contestants and will be able to have body contact with them.

Meanwhile, yesterday the contestants were doing the swimwear rehearsal. #10 William Chak's 40 inch chest and thick belly hair was the main focus, he frankly said that he does not mind letting the MC Christine Ng touch him.

William Chak was asked if he had confidence to win this year? He said: "Try my best! I support (#5) Pak Kin Yan, he's pretty good in talent, speech and body figure." Asked if he minds if Christine Ng touches him? He said: "Just to boost up the atmosphere, I don't mind. Actually they all really don't do anything to us." Pak Kin Yan expressed that he's nervous and getting praised by William, he praises back that William is popular, skillful and has an average body figure. "We both are performing dance, but I am already a performer, I'm already adapted to performing in front of a group of people. So there is an advantage there, I have confidence that I will win!"

(#3) Nicholas Ooi did not have the body figure or the thick body hair. He said: "Before coming on stage, I took some time off to train. Within a month, I went from a 34 inch chest to 35 inches, I'm quite satisfied." When asked compared to the other contestants, does he look like a kid? Nicholas said: "That's cute then! My mom also praises me, forget about the handsome guy path! I'll go down a different path. As for losing out on the body hair too, have to ask his father this question. No body hair, can't blame anyone. If have body hair and small body figure, then it'll look ugly, I can't accept that either."

KUALA LUMPUR: Cantopop singer Gillian Chung is ready to love again, having moved on from a sex scandal that almost destroyed her career.

“Not every guy is bad,” she said. “I want a boyfriend who is ‘mature-minded’ and likes me for who I am. He shouldn’t try to change me.”

Chung, who was here on Friday for the launch of Jaz Beer’s latest creation, Jaz Fresh, also said she would pick more mature movie roles now.
Jaz-ed up: Chung at the Jaz Fresh launch in Kuala Lumpur yesterday

“I used to play the part of a teeny bopper’s. Now I look for something more challenging. I would like to play ‘crazy’ characters in mou lei tao (slapstick) comedies,” she said.

“I’ve grown up, so it’s only natural to want to try different things,” the 29-year-old Hong Kong artiste told The Star.

Her fans are standing by her, too.

About 40 of them from her fan club braved the rain outside a restaurant at a shopping mall here for about two hours just to catch a glimpse of her.

The fresh-faced beauty made their wait worthwhile when she treated them to a rendition of Long Fa Siong Tek Yan (Riding on a Wave) – the latest single on her new EP (demo) album which is set for an October release.

She is all geared up for a Sept 28 concert with Charlene Choi, the other half of popular group Twins.

Chung was a poster child of girly innocence until the 2008 scandal where obscene pictures of her with celebrity Edison Chen appeared online.

She kept a low profile but eventually emerged to make a public apology to her fans, saying she was sorry for hurting those around her, especially Choi.

Since then, Chung has re-invented herself to portray a more grown-up woman and become the spokesperson of Jaz Beer (a Malaysian brand).

HONG KONG: Hong Kong singer-actor Edison Chen's personal assistant revealed Tuesday that the star had recently flown to the United States to meet Lady Gaga to discuss collaborative opportunities for next year, reported Chinese media.

"Lady Gaga will embark on a series of activities in Asia next year. She knows that Edison is building up his fashion label in Asia and owns an entertainment company. She hopes to work with him," said his assistant, known only as Mr Tay.

Tay went on to dispel rumours that Chen's meeting with the flamboyant singer was to seek her help in creating his new album.

Chen's assistant said that Lady Gaga was probably too busy with her own concerts at the moment to assist Chen with his album that is due to be released in November.

According to Tay, Chen had known Lady Gaga for many years and described her as a "hardworking, smart and opinionated artiste".

He added that both Chen and Lady Gaga have long been admirers of each other's sense of style.

Lending credence to Tay's words was two of Chen's latest blog posts.

On Saturday, he posted on his blog a photo of himself sitting cheek-to-cheek with Lady Gaga at a publicity event in Taiwan.

In another blog entry on Tuesday, Chen also thanked Lady Gaga and her management company Atomic Factory for awarding him special status when he attended her concert recently.

The Chinese-Canadian star's 2008 sex photo scandal rocked the Asian entertainment industry and left both his career and reputation in shambles, forcing him to spend most of his time in the US since the incident.

Recently, Chen had been actively engineering his comeback, doing his best to promote his fashion label Clot and even managing to get big names like Jay Chou and M.C. Hotdog to write songs for his new album.

If Chen does manage to rope in the ultra-popular Lady Gaga, he will be one step closer to success in his bid to revive his showbiz career.

Lawrence Ng, Amy Chan and Pinky Cheung's ATV series The Men of Justice ratings haven't been too bad. However, it was recently discovered that the series broadcast was "stolen" by a Mainland website.

ATV Executive (Yip Ka Bo) expressed that the series did not release in Mainland nor was there any DVD release, so based on investigations it is someone within the company that stole it. The series producer Gary Tang said: "The ratings more or less will be affected. Most of the audience for The Men of Justice are young people, and they are the more active ones online. They probably would want to watch it online because it's faster, it's hard to avoid this, but the one broadcast on the internet is the cut, but hasn't been edited version." Actress Pinky Cheung is also worried this may affect the ratings, she said: "My fans are discussing this issue on the internet, they said there is DVD too. I don't know who is responsible for this, but can just treat it as promotion!"
