The other night, Michael Tse and Fala Chen were both presented with the most trendy icon award by the magazine JESSICA CODE. The two both expressed their current TVB series Lives of Omission brought them the honor with a high exposure rate lately. Their jobs are greatly increasing. Michael expressed because of his 'Laughing' role, he has been earning a slightly higher income than before. Recently, people often chase after him asking about the storyline, he said: "Whenever people see me, besides taking pictures and greetings, they will ask me about the storyline. I often answer them by saying I lost my memory and don't remember because I feel that there's no point in watching if you know the story. Also, it won't be as fun to watch. This time there are clearly more male fans taking the initiative to ask me for pictures, which I haven't experienced before."

As it was reported that his wife is pregnant, Michael helplessly said: "There were some magazines that wrote this, perhaps because the magazines want to entertain readers. If my wife is pregnant, I will definitely notify everyone. Of course I do have plans to have kids, but the priority now is I must earn more money first, so I can ensure my children's future." Is Michael rushed? He said: "Both of our families have never been rushed. As for my wife and I, we are still completely enjoying the life of just the two of us."

Fala expressed lately there have been many advertisers asking her and Michael to attend events together. Besides Hong Kong, there are also several in Mainland too. The two practically see each other every other day. Towards the Mainland PRC 'limit order', limiting HK and Taiwan artists to appear on Mainland TV programs? Fala said: "The limit just applies to variety shows, we are just attending business events, shouldn't be related or affected." Asked if there is an appearance money increase for them to appear as a 'couple team'? She said: "My manager discuss the prices, I am not too sure myself. The most important is the more jobs the better and to have audience acceptance." Is Fala's boyfriend jealous of her intimate scenes with Michael? Fala laughed: "No jealousy. There aren't any intimate scenes, just that one CPR scene, which is not considered an intimate scene. Rescuing and kissing are are different feeling, thus isn't embarrassing when we shoot."

Yesterday Fala also attended another cell phone event. Usually, she loves taking photos with her phone. Asked if she has any photos that can't be in the light? She joked: "I'm afraid of sunshine, so I won't be in the light." Although Fala is really careless and often losing her phone, she is not worried her photos would leak out to the public because every time she finishes taking photos on her phone, she would transfer them to her computer when she gets home and then delete them. Also, even if her computer breaks, she won't get it repaired. She would rather buy a new one to avoid leaking out her privacy.

Yesterday afternoon, Kate Tsui attended a tea house opening ceremony. A magician performed a trick making Kate appear on a chair. First time participating in a magic performance, Kate laughed and expressed her complete success in putting her powerful flexibility in full force. In the morning, Kate did not dare too eat too much in order to avoid affecting the results. Kate said she's interested in participating in the trick where the magician saws a beauty in half.

Kate exposes that earlier when she was on a vacation in a foreign country, she met a German man. She has been keeping in touch with him by phone even until today. The German man invited her to celebrate Christmas in Germany. Asked if he knows she's an artist? Kate said: "I did tell him and he has looked me up on the internet already. Fortunately I didn't tell any lies. (Are you developing a long distance relationship?) Not there yet. However, he is a pretty nice, tall and handsome guy. He has his own job and does not have plans to come to HK. (Has your mom urged you to get marry?) She has been for a long time. Initially my sister wanted me to go on a blind date in Taiwan in August, but I had work, so it didn't work out."

He likes people to call him ‘Third Brother’ (三哥), however it seems that people are already more used to calling him ‘Yeung Hong’ (杨康) [TN: his character’s name in 《Legend of the Condor Heroes》]. No matter how much he tries to break away from the ‘Five Tigers’ era, he is unable to avoid the constant questions and fond memories that many people still have towards that era. Throughout his life and career, he has experienced many peaks and valleys, highs and lows – starting as an obscure actor and eventually making a name for himself in the entertainment industry, he later became a businessman, earning millions in the business sector. Recently, with his return to the entertainment industry, it can be said that he has now come full circle. He is Michael Miu, and this week, his new Mainland series《金枝玉葉》[loosely translated as “Noble Beauty”] has officially premiered on CCTV-8 throughout Mainland China. [TN: The series is considered the Mainland version of TVB’s 2008 series 《The Gem of Life》]

Currently 50 years old, the passing of time hasn’t carved too many wrinkles in Michael’s forehead – rather, we see elements of calmness, wisdom, and ease. He doesn’t like to look back on the past, as doing so halts progress forward; instead, he hopes that from this moment on, audiences will get to know him as someone who enjoys life and views filming series as his way of having some ‘playful fun’.

A tragic and unfortunate accident

Not only was the 1983 version of 《Legend of the Condor Heroes》 one of the earliest HK series to become popular in the Mainland, it was also an important symbol of the success of HK series in that era. In the prime of their careers back then, the stars of the series are no longer the ‘young kids’ they once were – among them, some have enjoyed the fruits of their popularity, some have retired to a more peaceful life, and some still continue to silently toil….but for many of us, the one we are least able to forget is the one who currently resides in Heaven – our ‘Wong Yung’, Barbara Yung. Such a young and delicate life with a promising career, tragically cut short, leaving behind much grief and a feeling of what could have been…

Back then, none of Barbara’s friends ever imagined that she would choose such an extreme path of ending her own life. 26 years later, upon hearing mention of his close friend Barbara, Michael sighs and states: “Originally, she was such a cheerful, vibrant girl. Whenever I filmed with her, I rarely treated her as a girl – she was like a good ‘brother’ of mine! No one ever thought that she would end her life in such manner.” It is widely understood and believed by many people that Barbara committed suicide due to relationship issues, however it less widely known that perhaps she never really intended to leave this world. As Michael himself states: “I believe that she originally wasn’t intending to die, perhaps she just wanted to ‘scare’ a certain person – the unfortunate part is that it went too far and turned into a tragic accident. It’s a huge tragedy and loss – we all miss her very much.”

Admires wife’s unwavering devotion to taking care of their family

In the series 《金枝玉葉》, Michael plays a rich real estate developer, which coincidentally draws some similarities to his former real life status as the “King of Eyeglasses” [TN: after Michael left the entertainment industry back in the late 80s,/early 90s he went into the lucrative business of selling eyeglasses and earned lots of money.] All the complications of surviving in the business world – including the fickleness of the private sector and the often pressure-filled climb up the corporate ladder – that the characters in the series encounter are all too familiar to someone like Michael, who has toiled in the business sector for over a decade. However, what attracted Michael to the series the most is the unwavering love and devotion that the main male character has towards the main female character – a love and devotion that is very similar to his real life relationship with his wife of more than 20 years, actress Jamie Chik. In an industry where breaking up is just as common as starting a relationship, there were very few people who believed that this couple would truly be able to remain together for so long. Back during that ‘Golden Era’ of TVB, there were many celebrity couples who ‘loved vigorously, but broke up thoroughly’ – looking back now, Michael and Jamie’s relationship is one of the few that has withstood the test of time.

Michael expressed that what he admires most about his wife is her “unwavering devotion to taking care of the family, taking care of the kids, and taking care of me.” He further states: “One of the most important things in a relationship is mutual respect as well as tolerance of each other’s flaws and weaknesses – not only in a relationship between husband and wife, but also between friends and co-workers, it should be this way. Each person has their own unique personalities and it’s important for one to be able to tolerate the other’s flaws in order to become friends; the same concept applies in a marriage – when you take a step back, the sea and the sky become boundless.”

Did everything without complaint

The series 《金枝玉葉》explores a wide range of real life issues, such as ‘wealthy second generation’, inflation of real estate prices, etc., -- the most interesting by far is how the series inadvertently brings to light one of today’s ‘unwritten rules’ of the entertainment industry – the fact that young artists are oftentimes required to give up their dreams and even their dignity in order to get to where they want to be in the shortest amount of time. Looking back to the HK entertainment industry of 30 years ago, the young artists of that generation were a lot more naïve and simple-minded – as Michael describes it: “We were just a group of young boys with nothing to our names – no experience, no money, nothing – all we had was a type of stubborn enthusiasm. Everyday, we would put our heads down and throw ourselves into filming series – we didn’t understand anything about fighting for certain privileges, striving for fame, or adhering to unwritten rules.”

In the early 80s, five energetic youth – Tony Leung, Andy Lau, Felix Wong, Michael Miu, and Kent Tong -- caught the eye of certain people at TVB and quickly, the company decided to push their careers forward. In 1983, during one of TVB’s flagship large-scale variety shows《星光熠熠劲争辉》, the 5 youth formulated a group called ‘the Five Tiger Generals’ (五虎將) and performed a series of acrobatic stunts on stage – the highlight of the performance was Andy Lau lying on a bench and having a huge slab of rock shattered on his chest [TN: 80s TVB fans will surely remember that famous performance]. Thinking back to those days, Michael fondly states: “Back then, we were grateful that the company gave us the opportunity to perform, so we threw our heart and soul into it, with the goal of doing the best job possible. For instance, there were certain stunts that people thought we would never be able to do, such as backflips, somersaults, and of course, the shattering of the rock – these stunts that were usually undertaken by professional stuntmen, we went and practiced them, then performed for the audiences. At the time, all of us were full of energy and enthusiasm and were happy to have the opportunity to perform for the audiences – we did it willingly and without complaint.”

When people think of Michael Miu, they think of the year 1983

The glory days of the ‘Five Tigers’ era officially ended in 1991 when the action film 《五虎将之决裂》[English title《The Tigers》] debuted in theaters – from that moment on, the 5 Tigers went down different career as well as life paths. The film also marked the last time (and only time) that the Five Tigers reunited to collaborate in a movie.

Not surprisingly, when people think of the title of the movie, they can’t help but draw comparisons to real life and wonder whether these 5 Tiger brothers really accumulated years of resentment and grudges toward each other offscreen. Hearing this, Michael laughs and states: “Well, the title of the film does sound like there’s some hidden meaning and I could understand why people would think that way – however, the movie was not a reflection of real life. We never had any conflicts or breaking off of that nature – rather, we ended up going down different paths because our goals were different. That’s the reality of the entertainment industry -- each of us have our own busy careers and may not see each other for years, yet when we do get the chance to meet up, it’s as though we never separated. Even throughout the many years when I went into business, I never lost contact with my friends in the entertainment industry – Eric Tsang, Andy Lau, Alan Tam, etc., we’re all good friends and we never ‘broke off’ any relationships.”

A lot of times, Michael doesn’t feel like talking about those ‘glory days’ of the past: “For a lot of people, when they think of me, they think of 1983 and the Five Tigers – everyone always asks me and sometimes I feel a bit helpless. All of that is in the past, there’s no point dwelling on it anymore. Rather than remembering me as ‘Yeung Hong’, I actually hope that people will call me ‘Third Brother’ when they see me. If everyone started calling me ‘Yeung Hong’ all the time, I don’t know how I should respond – all of that happened in the 80s. I feel that if we’re constantly thinking about the past, it’s as though we are constantly stuck in time and not moving forward. I like living in the present and looking to the future – the way I am now is the ‘true’ me. I hope that audiences know me for who I am now.”

The complexity of the business world is hard to fathom for some

Michael Miu’s nickname ‘Third Brother’ is actually the name of a character he portrayed in the 1988 triad-themed film "Hero of Tomorrow"; after the film debuted, people started calling him ‘Third Brother’ in real life as well. Even after Michael became a successful businessman and a prominent figure in the business world, many people still continued to affectionately call him ‘Third Brother’. Michael often jokes about this and constantly tells people: “As long as you don’t call me ‘Big Brother’, then it’s fine – being called ‘Big Brother’ is a dangerous thing!”

After 1983’s 《Legend of the Condor Heroes》, Michael starred in numerous series and was heavily promoted by TVB. Yet, when his acting career was at its peak, Michael decided to leave the industry and enter the business world, successfully taking over the biggest eyeglasses chain store in HK and running the business for more than a decade. Due to his success in the business world, it is said that Michael is the HK entertainment industry’s very first multi-millionaire.

Throughout the past 2 decades, there have been various ‘rumors’ about Michael’s decision to leave the entertainment industry at the peak of his career – some say that it was due to Barbara Yung’s death, others say that he was ‘frozen’ by TVB so he had no choice but leave, and still others claim that built up animosity between the 5 Tigers triggered his decision to split. The truth, as Michael reveals, is no where close to what was rumored. In reality, Michael didn’t just brazenly abandon his acting career and go into business – actually, back when he was filming series, he was already helping out with the family business on the side [TN: his family owned an eyeglasses business]. One day, he discovered that there was potential with the family business and at the same time, his acting career was bottlenecked, so he decided to let go of his acting career: “Actually, there was never really a ‘peak’ in my acting career – at the time, I felt that there wasn’t much room for further development in my acting and wasn’t sure how to keep going down that path; I was lost without a sense of direction. Coincidentally, the family eyeglasses business was going quite well, so naturally, I decided to place more focus there and that’s where I remained for the next 17 years. Having the opportunity to be in a completely different environment and encounter completely different experiences was definitely an eye-opener – it helped me to know myself better and later on, when I returned to the entertainment industry, it also helped me improve in terms of my acting.”

It can be said that the business world is similar to a war zone. With all the complexities and struggles that could take place, these 17 years surely have not been easy for Michael: “HK was very much impacted by the financial crisis as well as SARS – also, in the business world, so many things are profit-driven, plus there is the pressure of maintaining the business – the complexity of the business world can be very difficult for some people to fathom. Fortunately, we were able to survive that period and get through each difficult stage in one piece.”

Doesn’t care about being first or second brother

After the SARS crisis, HK’s economy was greatly affected – during this time, Michael decided to sell his business and return to the entertainment industry: “Having a business is a gamble – the competition in the market can get very intense and when reality set in, it made sense to sell the business. Also, at the same time, I was invited to participate in a filming project, plus a lot of people have been asking when I would return to the industry, so I thought, why not? Besides, I discovered that I still had an interest in acting. A lot of people say that the entertainment industry is complicated, but in my opinion, nothing can be more complicated than the business world. After experiencing so many ups and downs in the business world, being an actor is way easier and more relaxing in comparisons.”

But the landscape of today’s entertainment industry in HK has changed and has given rise to a new generation of artists. Amongst the ‘Five Tigers’, Tony Leung and Andy Lau have had the most successful acting careers, with both being multiple ‘Best Actor’ winners and maintaining their immense popularity even today. After being away for so long, how does Michael compare to his Tiger brothers in popularity? Actually, Michael does not care about this: “Returning anew, I realized the entire environment and landscape had changed, but it actually felt very refreshing – I was like a newbie entering the industry for the first time. I didn’t feel any apprehension, in fact, it felt quite casual and unrestrained – who cares about being a first brother or second brother? The important thing is doing your own job well. As actors, we are all friends – if we place too much importance on fame and fortune and put that in front of all else, it would be difficult to get through each day. I won’t put that type of pressure on myself – if all day long, I’m comparing myself to them and lamenting why someone has an award and I don’t, I would never be happy. I would much rather maintain a relaxed, casual attitude and happily enjoy each day!”

TVB artist, Joyce Tang (滕麗名), had earlier signed on as a spokesperson for a breast enhancement salon. Before shooting this advertisement, Joyce had undergone three months of breast enhancement treatment to present a tight and busty effect. In order to fulfill the meaning behind this advertisement which was “bouncing up,” Joyce donned a sexy black bra and pants and jumped wildly on a trampoline for the advertisement.

After filming wrapped, Joyce smiled and said, “Wow, actually jumping on a trampoline can be very challenging! Furthermore, it had to be matched with several elegant poses. Fortunately, I had already practiced for three hours prior to this so even if I am required to elegantly jump up one level’s height, it shouldn’t be a problem at all.”

Joyce was initially worried that she might accidentally exposed herself while jumping on the trampoline. She revealed that before this breast enhancement, if she was required to film sexy roles, she would have to spend time to add padding or tapes to create the illusion of an “increased cup size.” However, now that she has successfully enhanced her chest, she would be rid of such troubles in the future. Joyce smiled and continued, “After shooting this advertisement, I discovered that my body looked much better, even carrying off and filling up a bra perfectly. My initial worry that I might accidentally expose myself while jumping in a bra also completely disappeared. It was an unduly worry as there wasn’t even a single slip-up. I felt extremely confident when doing any movements!”

Yesterday Sammi Cheng attended an event for fashion label Aquascutum as their spokesperson. When speaking of Sammi hurried over to Andy Hui's concert right after she got back to HK from Macau, she laughed and admitted: "I wasn't rushing, just working normally." She expressed she only enjoyed a third of the concert. Was Andy upset she only watched for a short time? She embarrassingly begged for mercy: "Help me! Don't talk about him. (Today your outfit for this fashion label event was chosen for you by Andy?) Not related to him, I choose my own clothing. We are always talking about Andy, so boring."

When speaking of Andy mentioning if Sammi or Dicky Cheung fell in the water together, he'll only rescue Sammi and not Dicky? Sammi laughed: "It's just from his heart, I don't want to talk about it anymore because this is never ending. Dicky Cheung made a huge scene this time! I hope everyone will give us some space. We hope to be together like a regular couple as much as possible. Aside from work, we still have our own private space." Dicky called her 'Mrs. On'? She said: "I cannot hear, not responding."

It was rumored the Mainland PRC Censorship issued a "limit order" on Hong Kong artists to participate in Mainland programs to avoid stealing jobs from local artists. Sammi expressed: "I am not worried, there will naturally be a door that opens. I also don't know the issue."

With many Hong Kong artists developing in Mainland to earn more of the 'Chinese Yuan', the Mainland PRC Censorship issued a "Limit Entertainment Order" to reduce the upsurge of artists including Hong Kong and Taiwan artists to appear on Mainland TV programs, thus leaving more job opportunities for the local artists. It was rumored that Aaron Kwok has been affected because he was dropped from a Hunan TV drama. The 'limit order' rumor has led to increasing attention on Hong Kong artists. There are currently many discussions going on Weibo. ATV artist Pinky Cheung was also dropped from a recent Mainland production in which made her feel helpless. Yesterday she received the notice and repeatedly asked "Why?"

Last week, Lives of Omission TV ratings had an average of 31 points, peaking at 33 points. The finale will air on September 9th, while the film version will start shooting soon after. To boost the momentum, TVB scheduled the cast to watch the finale together with the audience at Emax on the finale night. Since last year's No Regrets, it has already been over half a year since TVB did another finale promotion. Looks like this series is getting quite a bit of attention. Producer Chong Wai Kin cannot say there won't be a sequel after the Lives of Omission film version.

The Lives finale has already been exposed, including Jodie's (Fala Chen) death and Paris (Kate Tsui) betraying Bai Co (Bosco Wong). Producer Chong still hasn't finished editing the finale episode yet, therefore the exposed ending isn't the complete story. He will make the appropriate changes to the ending based on the audience reactions. He expressed that Fala's death in the finale is a mystery because there is an inside story behind the death, it is not known whether or not she really dies. The truth will be disclosed in the film version. As for Bosco and Kate's ending, the decision will be made this week. Producer Chong said Damien Lau's role was initially a villain role, but because everyone's strong dislike, his role was changed. He has confidence that audience will anticipate the ending. Asked if Lives will have a sequel too? He expressed the film version has to start shooting first, just as long as there are public praises and good TV ratings, there is a chance for a sequel.

Yesterday Steven Ma and Linda Chung were shooting a car accident scene on location at Shek Kip Mei street for TVB new series Prosperous Father. The scene was so realistic that the passersby were frightened thinking there was a real traffic accident and immediately called the police, "a motorcycle crashed into the pedestrian road, sweeping a few people down." The police and firefighters arrived at the location at once thinking that a catastrophic traffic accident had just occurred. When they got to the scene, the police realized it was all just a misunderstanding. Soon after, a female onlooker suddenly stood next to the motorcycle used for filming and interfered with the shoot. She was urged to leave, but she was unwilling to. The crew was forced to stop the shoot.

Later reporters approached Steven Ma for details of the incident. He said he was just shooting a car accident scene for his new series with Linda. The scene required many Extras to act as students who get hit by a motorcycle. At the time, there was a old woman passing by who got very anxious, misunderstanding that there was a real traffic accident and called the police. Eventually when she found out it was just shooting, she still didn't care.

However, according to Steven, there was another emotional lady at the scene. She was upset because the TVB van parked by the roadside, still had its engine running and AC on, which really caused an impact to the environment. Because of this, she was unwilling to leave the area. Steven said: "We change in the van. There is a limit, after we are done, we turn off the engine. However, she came over to us and kept talking. I just embraced Linda back to the van. I didn't get into a conflict with her to avoid upsetting her again. Later, we waited until she left before filming the rest of the scene. We eventually got it all done."

Steven continued: "But, I do have to praise the police for their prompt response. I couldn't believe that the police would be at the scene so quickly." He also reveals that TVB had always followed the proper procedures to get permission for outdoor shooting; it was no exception this time. Although the car accident scene yesterday was misunderstood as a real accident, the police did not further interfere with the filming process, it was just because of that one emotional person. Steven said: "That lady probably had an emotional problem, she was scolding us nonstop and her words got ugly too. She said we were selfish, heartless and even told us to be careful from spraining ourselves!"

The newly divorced Cecilia Cheung sought solace in fellow divorcee Christy Chung at an award show in Beijing recently.

The two were seated side by side and acted like BFFs throughout the show, chatting animatedly. At one point, Chung was seen holding Cheung’s hands, while Cheung showed her cell phone to Chung. Maybe they were exchanging tips of raising kids?

Her separation from fellow A-lister Nicholas Tse did not affect Cheung’s star status at all, as she remains one of the most sought-after actresses, clinching three awards, including Asia’s Most Popular Actress of the Year at the show.

Whatever the detractors say, Cheung, 31, said in her acceptance speech that she would never give up.

I would keep moving forward and do more good films,” she said.

Since releasing a joint statement announcing their divorce on Aug 22, Cheung and Tse remain on good terms. Both were spotted bringing Lucas to an interview at an international school together recently.

The same couldn’t be said about Chung, who ended her seven-year marriage with musician Jon Yen earlier on. It was reported that she bumped into her ex-husband in a mall in Beijing but both acted as if they don’t know each other.

She will have to train herself to use her left hand and right brain. Will she ask her boyfriend to help out? Ella shouted: "Not necessary! Not necessary! I'll just ask my mom!"

Producers of sequel to "War and Beauty" was said to have approached the Hong Kong actress.

Hong Kong broadcast station TVB would soon begin work on the sequel of blockbuster drama War and Beauty.

Chik Kee Yee, the producer of the series, had hoped that actress Ada Choi would join the cast. However, Ada was said to have made harsh demands, as she had recently given birth to a daughter and would like to place her family as her topmost priority.

Both parties are now locked in a stalemate.

Moses Chan, Charmaine Sheh, Sheren Tang and Maggie Cheung are expected to reprise their roles in War and Beauty 2. Best Actors Wayne Lai and Kevin Cheng would also be added to the cast.

However, Gigi Lai and Bowie Lam would not be returning for the sequel.

With the lack of female actresses in TVB, Charmaine and Ada, who had always pulled in high ratings, are now the more popular choices.

Charmaine and Sheren, who had ventured overseas, had doubled their fees, and although Maggie is not as popular, her asking fee had also increased.

An insider said that Ada is making use of this chance to ask for a hefty payment. She wanted to be paid HK$10,000 and HK$60,000 (S$1,000 to $9,000) more than Sheren per episode. Furthermore, the actress also had a list of terms which she wanted TVB to adhere to.

"It's already too much for Ada to ask for such a high price. Her most outrageous request is to work for only eight hours, all so because she wants to take care of her daughter," an insider said.

Currently, characters which are yet to be confirmed for War and Beauty 2 included Ada's and a few minor supporting roles.

Other actresses such as Tavia Yeung and Myolie Wu had stepped out to win a part in the drama.

Myolie, who had blocked out her schedule for the next two months, looked like a strong contender; while Tavia, who previously starred opposite Charmaine, in the period drama Beyond The realm Of Conscience was said to have a strong chance of getting a role.

Asked if he has a diminished feeling? He said: "Being good for so many years, as an artist, villain roles are really fun, practically what I wish for. I feel I wasn't evil enough. The finale to TVB costume drama The Life and Times of a Sentinel starring Steven Ma and Kenneth Ma airs tonight. As this difficult to shoot production finally comes to an end, Steven said frankly he's having mixed feelings. He really wants the finale to broadcast quickly, so audience can see the results of all the hard work the crew put into this production. However, he is also worried that he'll feel reluctant and lost when the series ends.

Steven expressed that The Life and Times of a Sentinel holds a vital spot in the course of his acting, he said: "I have never portrayed a character with so much hatred like Nip Dor Po. In the finale week, he had a great psychological change. For revenge, he turned into a sinister and in the last few episodes, his relations with Kenneth Ma's role Fuk Chuen will rupture. Two men will have a very tragic ending. One of them will get frightening when an enormous secret uncovers. I look forward to see how audience will react to this ending."

Steven said he had a pleasant collaboration with Kenneth Ma, he said: "The shooting period this time was shor. The series is also set in the large palace court, so it was quite difficult, but the entire crew really put their hearts into it. My co-star Kenneth Ma is an actor that is willing to give and take. Plus our surnames are both Ma, we had a comfortable collaboration and are such good friends like two brothers."

As for the TV ratings, Steven frankly said it's only a general satisfaction: "The past few weeks remained 26-27 points, but the earlier series with the same 8:30pm time slots had lower ratings too. I anticipate for good ratings in the finale."

Recently Apple Daily and FACE reported that during the time Raymond Lam was dating Mavis Pan, he hooked up with a girl named Angel (Fong Fong) who is from his hometown Xiamen. The magazines published photos that implied untrue facts. Currently in Beijing busy shooting for new film Saving General Yang, Raymond issued a statement to Apple Daily and FACE through his lawyer yesterday. He was angered by the fabricated and twisted reports. During a long-distance phone interview, Raymond said: "There has been fabricated and negative reports all along. I always laughed them off, but this time I really cannot tolerate anymore! Since the Mavis Pan incident, I promised that I will concentrate on my work, but this time the reports made it sound like I'm lying. This has gone beyond my limit! I feel that even if work is difficult, I still won't retire from this industry, but when my family starts worrying, then I start to think maybe I should give up!"

Raymond reveals that the published photo on the reports was taken a several years ago when he invited his Xiamen friends for a housewarming party. Aside from the photos with his awards and dogs, the others were not taken at his house. Also, the photos are from so many years ago, he said heartbroken: "Miss Lok had already told the reporters that the rumor is not true, but they still wrote the story anyway, which violates a reporter's integrity." Since he entered the industry, he had never made such an extreme move by taking legal action against the media, but this time the news made his family worry, which Raymond honestly cannot accept. As for Angel, it has been several years since he contacted her, and she is already married anyway. He is worried the reports might affect her family too.

Raymond sadly expressed that the untrue reports have mentally harmed him as well, leaving him in long-term depression and a shadow towards people. He said painfully: "When there are classmate or friend gatherings, no one dares to take pictures with me. Even if they did take any pictures, they especially have to ask me if they can post it online! When I go out and there are fans who ask me to take pictures, I would hesitate, it's hard to live on with a shadow!" Also, the hosts on Scoop read out the original text to Raymond's statement.

Virgina Lok: This one's just ridiculous!

TVB Production and Resource Manager (Virgina Lok) voiced her support to Raymond's statement. She expressed that Raymond is still TVB's frontline actor, and his image is very important: "If he isn't careful and if there really was this incident, then his promises means nothing. However, this time the reports are truly ridiculous! Those pictures are taken when Raymond had a party. The photos in the bathroom and living room were not taken at his house. This incident also made Angel and her husband unhappy when they innocently got involved!" Raymond's mother also called Miss Lok to complain: "Last time the Mavis Pan incident already hurt Raymond deeply, he was depressed for a long time. He just got back on his feet and can concentrate on work, and now they attack him again!"

Miss Lok expressed after the magazines published those pictures, reporters contacted her to confirm. At the time, she already denied that the photos were from Raymond's house: "But I just don't understand why Apple Daily still published them. Raymond already got TVB's approval before issuing the statement. After so many other negative reports prior to this, his image is greatly affected. Soon, TVB will have a meeting to discuss what we can do."

Heartbroken, relationship is hard to forget
THERESA: First off, I want to say that the issue between Him Law and I, whatever had to be said, I already said it all before. I explained the issue to my Boss, colleagues, family and friends, this incident caused a lot of... (sobs) grief to the people that love me, especially my family. My mom is very heartbroken to see my bruises, I feel very heartbroken myself and I feel very sorry to them!

Prior to this incident, I never told my company, colleagues or family that we got back together. On the day we broke up, something this big happened and they still didn't know because I was afraid they would worry and was very afraid my family would be affected. The relationship between he and I, to me is a heartbreaking thing that is hard to forget, a really heavy burden! Earlier before going to Beijing, I really wanted to drop this burden, and wipe away this shadow.

However, when I exposed this incident, my company and colleagues did not know because I never told them beforehand. I feel really sorry to them because I gave them so much trouble...I promised my company, promised my boss, that I will never let the same thing happen again. In the future, whatever happens, I will first discuss with my company....

Bows and apologizes for personally exposing incident

THERESA: In fact, I knew all along that my boss and colleagues love me. When they found out about this incident, they were very worried...so I really want to say "Thank you" and "Very Sorry" to them. I really am very sorry! From today on, I will not respond to the issue related to Him Law anymore, I do not want to comment anymore, and I hope to start a new life hereafter, focus entirely on my career. Thanks to all the media for the hard work, I know it has been difficult for all of you in the last few days!

REPORTER: Did you see Him Law just now?

THERESA: Sorry, really sorry!

REPORTER: Will you be going to Beijing still?

THERESA: Thank you all!

REPORTER: Will your company release you?

Theresa did not answer, instead turned and left the press conference.

Him Law, dressed in a T-shirt that has 'CHAOTIC' written on it, appeared a few minutes after Theresa left. Accompanied by a colleague, he sat down for the press conference. He made a public apology for the injuries he caused to Theresa, but stressed that he did not beat her nor was he a four-timer.

Apologizes to Theresa for her injuries
HIM: Hello everyone. As an artist, I should not let personal matters impact any other party, so I owe my company, the media, my family and the people who were innocently dragged into this issue an apology!

HIM: Ai....Theresa and I had our happiness and quarrels during the time we were together. However, I really don't want to publicly talk about the details, who is right or who is wrong. Ai!

HIM: I want to say, no matter what disputes there are, the physical injuries I caused Theresa is wrong. Here, I apologize to Theresa! However, I do not admit beating Theresa nor am I a four-timer! This is my last time saying this, and hereafter I just want to concentrate on my work and repay those who support and encourage me.

REPORTER: How do you feel about Theresa making her injuries public? Did this have a great impact on you?

HIM: Regarding my issue with Theresa, I do not want to comment anymore. I just want to concentrate on my work hereafter.

REPORTER: Your image is damaged?

HIM: Don't talk about it.

REPORTER: Have you personally apologized to Theresa?

HIM: I will not comment either, don't talk about it.

REPORTER: Did you see Theresa just now?

At this time, Filmko's spokesperson Ms. Lee responds on his behalf: "They will not meet under Filmko's arrangements".

REPORTER: What is your path like in the future? How will repair your image?

HIM: I will continue working.

Already broke up with Beijing girlfriend

REPORTER: Did you break up with your Beijing girlfriend already?

HIM: She already has a new life, new boyfriend. We broke up already!

REPORTER: Will you ask your company to not let you and Theresa collaborate again?

HIM: This decision is left for my company to decide.

REPORTER: Theresa revealed photos of her injuries in a magazine, were those caused by you?

HIM: I am not talking about anything relating to Theresa and I.

REPORTER: This can further damage your image, you don't need to clarify?

HIM: What I do have to clarify is that I did not beat Theresa, nor am I a four-timer!

REPORTER: Did you lift her up and push her into the window sill, causing her injuries?

HIM: I think... no matter what situation it is, I am wrong to have caused any physical injury to her, so I apologize to her.

REPORTER: How did you hit her?

HIM: I did not beat her! I did not beat her!

REPORTER: How did she get injured? Did she fall down herself?

HIM: ....Ai!

REPORTER: So you're not a four-timer, then were you a two-timer?

HIM: I was not!

REPORTER: Do you feel you are a scum? Ditched the Queen?

HIM: I am sorry everyone! (After bowing, he immediately left)

Cantopop singers Andy Hui and Sammi Cheng reconciled this March, after a seven-year separation, much to the delight of their fans.

The pair later went on an early honeymoon in Tokyo in June.

Recently, it was said that Andy and Sammi would be moving into a luxury apartment, which Andy had bought earlier this year.

According to the Hong Kong media, the 1,700-square feet (approximately 158 square metres) luxury apartment in Yukon Court is worth HKD$24.28 million (SGD$3.7 million) and renovation work for the unit had been completed.

It is believed that the couple is currently busy decorating their apartment, and hopes to move in during the Mid Autumn Festival in September.

Andy was previously staying in a 4,000-square feet (approximately 372 square metres) rented apartment at Kadoorie Hill. He was living with his father and his elder brother's family.

"After his father passed away, Andy wanted to move out. He wanted to spend more time alone with Sammi after they reconciled, so he bought a place at Yukon Court, West Hill. It is not even a five-minute drive away from Sammi's place, so it's easier when Sammi wants to visit him," an insider said.

However, there were speculations that Sammi is using her current residence as a front and is actually cohabiting with Andy secretly.

Whenever she noticed the media trailing her, she would return to her own place. Otherwise, she would accompany Andy at Yukon Court, taking the opportunity to spend more quality time together.

As for kiss scenes with Michael in the series, Fala expressed only one kiss scene will broadcast: "The scene already aired, that scene was not a camera angle, it was real kiss! (Your boyfriend doesn't allow you to do kiss scenes?) No, he watches too."

The other night when Michael attended an opening ceremony for a shoe brand, and because he was too close to the lion dance, he and the lion head bumped into each other causing an inflamed swollen left eye.

Lately a magazine reported that Michael's wife has problems bearing a child, and have been quarreling due to this issue. Michael said: "Many times towards these related reports, Artists often take legal action, but we all know that the law actually cannot help. Also, money is involved in majority of the process, I only rely on the internet (Weibo) to express my dissatisfaction." Michael directly said the content of the report is 100% fabricated and written without any evidence. He said: "The insider that they mentioned, I don't know who the person is. They took an untrue story and write it with layers upon layers. As a man, I must stand up for my family, my wife has been a slightly unhappy. (Do you have plans for children?) We discussed it before, but this is personal. My wife and I enjoy the life of just the two of us. If we do have a baby one day, it means we entered a new phase in life."
