The other night, Kate Tsui was surrounded by a large group of reporters for interviews after the RTHK Music Awards Presentation. During the time she mistakenly accepted ATV's interview as well. As her colleague from TVB, Raymond Lam learned of the incident and felt a bit surprised, he said: "For every large group of Mandarin media interviews, TVB will always help me check all the microphone tags." Raymond has never had that happened to him before, but he believes that they are not allowed to accept other TV stations and websites independent interviews besides TVB and tvb.com. He said: "Although TVB is now more open, allowing their artists to shoot Mainland series, but its just selling the appearance, not the voice. Artists' appearance and voice is TVB's patent, unless that series is going to be aired on TVB, their voice will have to be dubbed." The night before, Raymond accepted an interview and expressed that actually iCable's photographer captured the entire scene, but only the Cantonese parts will be broadcast to the public.

One of the winners for "Top Ten Outstanding Pop Singer", Raymond frankly said that he is very happy to be one of them and is also very satisfied with his achievements in the music awards this year. He hopes that in the future he will have good developments in all three industries - music, film and television. Towards RTHK DJ Alex Lee teasing him that he's "Ah Tai Most Popular Male Singer", Raymond said that he's just joking and that he does not mind. Speaking of presenting an award with "Little Sister Man Ling" Winky Wong to Miriam Yeung, he highly praised: "She is very cute. When I carried her backstage, she was already leaning on me. If I had a daughter like her then that would be great. (Have one with Linda Chung?) Why? Is it because both of us combined will make that cute of a child?" Raymond also expressed that when he presented the award to Miriam Yeung, he felt very nervous and almost forgot his lines.

TVB and HKRIA started fighting because of royalties problems, causing I-cable and ATV to profit from it, getting the big 4 production companies' singers appearances, breaking TVB's monopoly. TVB's manager Stephen Chan thinks TVB has ben misunderstood and can only suffer in silence啞子吃黃連, there was no boycott from their side.

Still has divergences with the big 4

Yesterday, as Stephan Chan got interviewed by Commercial Radio's Cha Xiaoxin, he stated that the royalties issue hasn't had any real improvement yet, but both sides had given out different solutions and there are still divergences, they are looking for a solution that they can both accept. About Jacky Cheung inviting ATV to his press conference, Stephen Chan says that press conferences had always welcomed all the members of the press and Jacky isn't contracted to TVB. The only point he wants to clarify is that people kept on saying that TVB is despotic, boycotting the 4 companies's singers, that is not true.
Stephen Chan says " TVB welcomes singers to appear, but maybe because the royalties issue is not solved yet, the Labels aren't arranging anything for the moment. I insist once more that TVB doesn' have the power to boycott any artist, so about those critics from the outside world, we can only suffer in silence 啞子吃黃連"

ATV : Royalties are legitimate

The royaties issue is said to have breached TVB's monopoly, Stephen Chan stated that there is no breach or not talk, actually, many singers aren't contracted with TVB, it's only that nowadays, there are more of them making other choices. Stephen says that TVB will present "Top Ten Chinese Gold Songs Awards" tonight without any problem, the only thing they had RTHK to promise was to let RTHK handle all the royalties issues for the night and they wrote out an agreement for insurance.

I-Cable admits to have profitted from it.

ATV's Ye Jiabao pointed out that the royalties HKRIA had been asking ATV had alway been fair and legitimate, both sides never had any conflict over that, so they made use of this opportunity to increase the cooperations with the 4 big companies. And Hu Rong-Qing admitted that after this conflict started, I-Cable had many profits and could break the existent monopoly.

Yesterday, Bernice was on her way to Metro Broadcast Radio Station in Hung Hom for an interview when she came across the fallen building incident that had occurred nearby (earlier that day). Therefore, the car that Bernice was in had to take an alternative route to the radio station. She said: “At first, I thought that perhaps a water pipe had burst, but then realized that it was the huge fallen building incident. Though this was a bad situation, the only “good” thing that came out of it was that the incident occurred during the day when most people were either working or out eating lunch, so few people were in the building. If this incident had happened next week during the Chinese New Year holiday, it would have been incredibly tragic!”

Bernice expressed that she is currently filming  [Ip Man: The Prequel] , another action movie; she says that each time she does an action film, she has to learn a new fighting technique / weapon – it’s very exhausting. However, recently, she developed an interest in Wing Chun (a form of martial arts).

February 22nd of last year, Amigo Chui was involved in a case of assaulting girlfriend Elizabete Kwong. Since the incident, he has not provided an explanation to the public, his jobs are also terminated for the meantime. Yesterday afternoon he reported back to the Cheung Sha Wan Police Station, and next month he will have to go back again. He wore a face mask and wanted to avoid interviews from the media, in the end he allowed the media to take pictures, but did not respond to questions. Elizabete took advantage of this time and sobbed during her iCable interview saying that Amigo once promised to marry and have kids with her, but now she regrets that she loved the wrong man.

Yesterday more than 10 reporters surrounded the police station, at 12:30pm the masked Amigo was in sunglasses, dressed in black and jeans arrived at the station. He was at the station for approximately 15 minutes before leaving, around 5 cars from the media followed behind chasing after him for an interview. He was in the 7-seat van driving pretty fast, trying to get rid of the reporters, but he was unsuccessful. In the end, he stopped at a parking lot and the Media followed quickly behind starting a chaos.

Finally Amigo was willing to face the reporters. His friend came out first and told the media: "Calm down, he will come out to allow pictures to be taken." Amigo finally came out of the car and said: "Sorry, thanks for the hard work!" Reporters than bombarded him with several questions regarding the situation including: "What is your situation like now?", "Are you going to get charged?", "Did you really hit Elizabete?". He did not respond to any of them. His friend said: "He will not answer these questions." Then he left through the tunnel and disappeared.

As the weather was cold, before the two started shooting they were buried under heavy coats and often drank hot tea to stay warm. When it was time to shoot, Miriam and Raymond were on the streets pulling and pushing, then Raymond made up with her again, looks just like Miriam and her husband Real Ting's warm relationship, then the couple took a stroll together.

Newly wed, Miriam has been trapped in a sweet marriage and is especially into shooting love scenes. In another scene, when Raymond flinged off her hand in one go, Miriam immediately took it back and held onto his hand tightly. In the end, they embraced sweetly. Perhaps its just been too long since they last worked together, or that it was the first day of work and its not often that Raymond does movies, so their chemistry hasn't kicked in yet since they NGed quite a bit.

At 9pm, Miriam's fans especially came to the set with a cake to celebrate her birthday early, which is on February 3rd. Miriam was extremely happy, she quickly cut the cake with fans and blew the candles. A sudden happy birthday party was held on the set.

Photographer and film-maker Wing Shya let slip that Richard Li might have secretly married former actress Isabella Leong, mother of his eight-month-old son Ethan.

Shya, 46, told Chinese reporters on Wednesday that he had shot Li and Leong's wedding photos when Leong returned to Hong Kong from San Francisco with her son in December last year.

Shya knew Leong even before she entered the entertainment industry and became good friends while working together on numerous magazine and movie poster projects.

"Actually the point was not to take the photos but to see an old friend. I'm happy for her. She got married and gave birth to a son," said Shya.

As though realising he had committed a faux pas, Shya immediately backpedaled.

"I should not talk about her, it is too sensitive, I promised her I wouldn't bring it up," he said. "No, it should be she had a child but hasn't gotten married yet."

Despite seeing Li, chairman of Hong Kong telecommunications giant PCCW, for over two years, Leong and Li had not tied the knot as the Li family objected to Leong's modest background, profession and her low education level.

However, the situation has changed since Leong gave up her acting career, went to study English in Stanford University and most importantly, bore the Li family a male heir.

Leong's recent return to Hong Kong with her son was rumoured to have two main purposes: to let Ethan meet his grandfather, billionaire Li Ka Shing, and to discuss her nuptials with Richard Li.

With Leong a changed woman and Li Ka Shing reportedly very fond of grandson Ethan, it would not be surprising if Shya's slip of the tongue turned out to be true.

Due to the royalty dispute between TVB and the big 4 record companies, both sides have participated in “boycott” activities, with the big 4 companies now allowing their artists to accept interviews with ATV and i-Cable in Cantonese.

Yesterday, God of Song Jacky Cheung held a press conference for his new Cantonese album [[ Private Corner]]; not only did ATV send a whole production crew and reporters from their regular news department to attend the press conference, they also arranged for Jacky’s interview with them to air during the regular nightly news hour – demonstrating how important the interview is for ATV. As a result, Jacky became the first artist from the Big 4 record companies to “appear” on ATV since the royalty dispute erupted – it also marked the second time in 19 years that Jacky has appeared on ATV. For today’s artists to be able to appear on other TV stations and not just be limited to TVB, Jacky expressed that this is definitely a healthy sign.

As an artist under the Universal recording label, Jacky once expressed that TVB was being too unreasonably restrictive, indicating that TVB does not provide a lot of support to its contracted singers, yet are quick to “freeze” (suspend) them on any little thing. In addition to over 100 reporters from various media outlets in Hong Kong and Asia attending yesterday’s press conference for Jacky’s new album [[ Private Corner]] being released today, top management from ATV (Yip Jia Bao) and i-Cable (Wu Rong Xing) were also invited to attend. TVB management Virginia Lok was also in attendance, however the station did not send any reporters or crew to the event.

Jacky accepted an interview with both i-Cable and ATV in Cantonese. Since ATV does not have an Entertainment News department, they sent a crew from their regular news department to report on the event and also interview Jacky. In addition, ATV arranged to have Jacky’s interview air during their regular nightly news hour, thereby showing how much they respected the interview. During the interview, Jacky expressed that music should be able to reach all audiences through all media outlets so that the more people who can hear Cantonese music, the better. He said that he doesn’t mind attending a music program put on by other TV stations as long as he has time; he also hoped that there would not be any “monopoly” type situation where artists would be affected. ATV manager Yip Jia Bao also indicated during the interview that he welcomes the “open attitude” of the record companies and that there are plans for ATV to produce a series of music-related variety shows. Jacky expressed that in Taiwan, he did an interview with a regular (non-entertainment) news crew once, but in Hong Kong, this was his very first time, so he was very excited.

Since Jacky has not released a new Cantonese album in 5 years, his record company Universal spent HKD 3 million for the press conference – to repay the generosity, Jacky personally performed 2 songs from his album at the event. Even though earlier in the month, Jacky had reprimanded TVB for their actions, Virginia Lok (from TVB management) did make time to attend, and Mr. Huang Jian Tao from Universal’s top management personally attended to her at the conference.

With regard to each of the major TV stations having top management in attendance at the press conference, Jacky expressed that it is a good thing, as it is better for them to have a cooperative attitude rather than a belligerent one. In terms of TVB not sending any reporting crew to the event, Jacky said: “Yes, that’s true…for them, it has to do with procedural and process stuff, so no need to worry about it.” He revealed that in the future, there are plans to appear on both i-Cable and ATV for interviews and to promote his album. Even though he will not be appearing in any TVB shows any time soon, he will still be participating in the promotional efforts for TVB/Shaw Brother’s film “72 Tenants of Prosperity” because his role as “singer” is completely separate from his role as “actor” and he is very clear when it comes to this.

When asked about Hacken Lee insisting to this day that he will be conducting interviews with i-Cable in Mandarin only, Jacky indicated that it his personal choice. Jacky says that for himself, collaboration with other TV stations is based on whether the timing and style of the project matches his own agenda; also he indicated that not being limited to just appearing on TVB shows is a healthy sign. Asked about whether he is worried his relationship with TVB will deteriorate as a result, Jacky replied: “If they ask me to do a film for them, I will definitely do it. In terms of singing, it will have to wait until after the royalty dispute is over. Of course, I also hope that TVB would be able to air MVs because at the end of the day, music is music.” However, Jacky did express that he is not happy with the way TVB handles awards ceremonies nowadays: “By editing out so many important parts in the awards ceremonies, it’s not very respectful and makes it very hurtful to musicians and recording artists – it’s really not a matter of ‘appearing’ on their station or not, but rather a matter of ‘respect.’” Jacky said that there are plans to air his MVs on ATV and i-Cable in the future.

Though Jacky was affected by the economic meltdown and Lehman Brothers situation last year, he still personally took on the production costs of his new Cantonese album. Jacky expressed that the cost was in the “7 figures” but it was necessary because of his high standards when it comes to the quality of his album. In terms of music quality, Jacky says that this is his best album to date, however it is also the most expensive (production-wise) compared to his previous albums: “Maintaining high quality when it comes to music is important – I believe money can always be earned back. Even though the album may not make as much money as it used to, I don’t believe that it will be a loss.” One of the features of the album is a special song dedicated to the late Lydia Shum (famous host and Jacky’s “god-mother”). Another feature is a special limited edition glass cover on the album, however due to the huge expense, this edition will only be available on the internet and will cost approximately HKD 15000 a piece.

Back in 1991, Jacky was once “frozen” by TVB for appearing on a charity show organized by ATV to benefit flood victims in China. However, due to his status as one of the most popular and beloved singers in Hong Kong at that time, TVB quickly “unfroze” him and allowed him to appear on their shows again afterward.

Angelababy Yang Wing is currently promoting two movies at the same time, therefore her name pops up in the news almost daily. Suffering from lack of sleep, she smiled and said that she misses home the most. Last night, Baby wore an outfit from Japan label ZUCCa's 2010 Spring Summer line to their fashion show; originally planning it to be a relaxing night, she vehemently denied, "It wasn't me!" in reference to suggestions that she took rumoured ex-boyfriend William Chan's virginity.

Refuses to publicize deflowering experience

Baby's image has always been clean and fresh, and has used excuses such as "it's an embarassing topic" and "I've already revealed my thoughts on it" in response to questions relating to William's virginity. When reporters asked if she has had this experience herself, Baby was beside herself. "This is very embarassing, it's my own secret, I'm definitely NOT discussing it! I'm not as open as William, so you will not see me discuss my sexual relationships on TV. I am a model and an actress, so I wish to leave a beautiful impression and memory in viewer's hearts. But I can confirm that the person he (William) speaks of as deflowering him, is definitely not me!" Baby revealed that she had never asked about William's personal life, because it is a private matter.

Did not lose out on gigs to Jessica C.

In response to allegations that Jessica C. is following in Baby's footsteps by entering the Japanese modelling world, therefore fighting for jobs with her, Baby denies it. "That's not true! The Japanese market is very big, everyone has different jobs. I need to congratulate her, since Jessica's appearance is very suitable for growth in Japan, she has a nice body and a sweet look."

It was reported that Leon Lai's record company Amusic is not accepting interviews from both TVB and iCable and did not attend the [JSG Awards] was because they were unhappy that Janice Vidal and Aarif Lee did not get anything. Last night, Janice went on [JSG] and Miriam Yeung, also under Amusic, did not get troubled. This makes the public think that its a special arrangement, even Janice felt confused, she said that she does not know how to solve this issue on her own, she will just wait for her company to make the arrangements. Not afraid of offending TVB? She said: "My company and I have always had a good relationship, actually can't worry too much, I believe in my company. I will always be on the same side as my company. (Is it because you got nothing at [JSG Awards]?) I don't think that has anything to do with it, but I am confused myself."

Tavia, who almost became cross-eyed in TVB drama Beyond the Realm Of conscience, wish to continue challenging evil roles, in a modern series.

After receiving the “My Favorite Female Character” award based on the evil role in [Beyond], Tavia wants to continue challenging evil roles, but in a different way, this time in a modern series. She has not been to Malaysia to publicize for a long time. After the major role in [Beyond], she hopes to take on a lighter one, because the costumes in [Beyond] are too heavy. She needs to relax, or else she will turn cross-eyed!

Why cross-eyed? Cheeky Tavia demonstrated how her eyes looked when she is angry, exactly as venomous as Gam Ling, yet got everyone laughing!

A major role will always receive both good and bad comments. When asked about how she regards the negative comments, she humbly replied: “Only with criticisms, will there be improvement. If everybody praises you, you cannot see your faults.”

Love triangle with Steven Ma
Tavia has a healthy image, and is only busy with filming dramas, but she hopes to find time to film a movie. She will be involved in a love triangle with Steven Ma and Michael Tse in the drama [Cupid Stupid], and will be talking more about horoscope. When asked if Tavia believes in horoscope, she replied: “I will read, but do not really care about the daily predictions.” Tavia likes to know herself better: “I prefer reading about horoscope personality and compatibility; sometimes I believe in the predictions too, it is quite accurate!” Currently, she is involved in a series involving obsessions (her first time), but she is not the one with the obsession."

Clarify that Michael did not pass the ulcer
Tavia clarified that Michael was not the source of the ulcer, when they filmed a kissing scene in the drama [The Morning of Flying Fish in Hanami]. “He is innocent. My body was ‘heaty’ hence there was an ulcer; it had nothing to do with Michael. I passed the ulcer to him instead; it was a joke when I said that he passed to me!”

Endorser of Asia
Endorser of H2O+ for 2 concurrent years, Tavia mentioned that she liked “Body Silk” (product of H2O+) because it has both moisturizing cream and bathing lotion. Applying it on the tail end of her hair, it would have multiple benefits. She has already bought the H2O+ products in Malaysia, waiting to use it when she is back in Hongkong. As to whether she will continue to endorse for the third year, Tavia, who has a glib tongue, looked at her boss and replied:” Of course I will continue, right?” Tavia hopes she can endorse for the whole Asian market and not Malaysia alone.

Recently, there has been a pregnant woman who caught the swine flu, she was given a vaccine, but that lead to a miscarriage as a result. Currently 5 months pregnant, Cecilia Cheung read the report and shouted in fear. She expressed that for her baby's safety she is taking vitamins, sleeping early, waking early and won't get the vaccine, doing everything she can to maintain safety for "Fung-Ji B" (her unborn baby). The recent incident of the swine flu vaccine failing to protect the fetus has lower the public's confidence on getting the vaccine, the news especially frightens pregnant woman , including Cecilia.

As for her husband Nicholas Tse, who is often out filming and can easily come in contact with viruses, Cecilia said: "We have a child at home, I tell him to immediately shower and wash his hands when he comes home. I will also pay attention to personal hyigene."

Michael Miu, Maggie Cheung, Michael Tse, Mandy Cho , Mimi Lo and Grace Wong arrived in Action Waterfall in Olympian City for TVB new series [My Better Half] promotional event. The series is about a married couple's boudoir issues, even at yesterday's event it was a "tasteful" game play.

The male leads Michael Miu and Michael Tse both played ball and fruit passing using mouth games. They got messy during the games. However, the female leads Maggie and Mandy were very careful and did not participate in the games. Grace and Mimi raced to see who can deliver bananas the fastest with their mouths. As a wife, Mimi was teased that her "mouth skills" were not as good as Grace.

Maggie said that she was not worried about the series ratings getting affected by the Lunar New Year, she felt that if the series is good to watch then naturally the ratings will go well. She also laughed and said that she's too busy that she doesn't have time to date: "My love life is ok, I'm currently busy on another series, no time for movies and dinner. (Boyfriend complained?) I'm an artist, no choice."
