Alan Tam attended a special event yesterday in the Ho Man Tin area. Asked about Charlene Choi and Ronald Cheng’s marriage being revealed, which has caused quite a stir in the industry, Alan expressed that he did pay attention to the reports about the situation. Even though Alan does not know either person well, he was still very supportive of them, emphasizing that they did not do anything “wrong” and should not be treated like sinners; furthermore, celebrities have the right to maintain their privacy – if they don’t want to make the information public, there must be good reasons for it. Asked whether celebrities should avoid lying in order to maintain their privacy, Alan responded: “They don’t want to say it [private matters], however when they are being forced to reveal the matters, the only thing they could do was lie about it – they did not commit any crime….they’re young kids – give them some space so they can think about how to handle the situation. I feel that they still care about each other very much – don’t make it sound like both the guy and the girl ‘have problems’ – it’s their own personal relationship and feelings, after all.”
Alan also pointed out that earlier this month, while attending Big Four’s concert, he had bumped into Ronald Cheng’s father backstage. At that time, he had asked him about Ronald and he replied “good, good” but there was no mention of his son’s marriage; therefore, he does not know any ‘inside information’. Plus the entertainment industry always has interesting things going on, so he [Alan] is not ‘curious’ about this particular situation [Ronald and Charlene’s marriage]. He says: “During this difficult time, we should not be ‘throwing salt on the wound’ by saying hurtful things. If people want to ‘play’, then they should wait until the situation is over – it might be more ‘fun’ for them.”
