HONG KONG: Hong Kong actress Kathy Chow has revealed that she regretted her marriage to actor Ray Lui during an interview with a Hong Kong website.
Chow, who turns 44 this year, secretly wed Lui who is 12 years her senior in the United States in 1988. At the time, she was just 21 years old.
"Even though I had completely no experience in love and marriage, I did not take marriage lightly... We were very serious," Chow said. "We were just a little foolish at the time."
"When we lived together for awhile, we discovered a lot of things about each other that was very different from what we imagined."
The pair separated shortly after getting hitched, citing incompatible personalities.
Chow and Lui avoided one another after that and kept to themselves even when they were reunited on the set of a Hong Kong drama serial in 2005.
Chow also admitted that she had developed a fear of marriage after her bad experience with Lui. However, she said she has not given up on finding love.
"I still do believe in love but I will certainly not marry and probably will not have any children," said Chow.
Chow entered the entertainment industry after competing in the Miss Hong Kong pageant in 1985 and appeared in many Hong Kong television drama series in the 1980s and 1990s. She left to expand her career in China in 2001 before returning to Hong Kong in 2008.
