It’s well known that both Wayne and Sheren are ‘the best of the best’ when it comes to acting – but the two of them are also good cooks as well. For Wayne, in addition to being the main breadwinner in the household, he is also the ‘family chef’; as for Sheren, she has been ‘practicing’ since she was little, so she can also cook quite a few good dishes.
Wayne says: “In the past, I used to go with my mom to the market, then go home and cook together, so for me, cooking is a piece of cake. Even after I got married, I would make turnip cake for my older brother and sister every Chinese New Year. The ‘big dinner’ with the entire family during the new year is important of course, but I also have a ‘small dinner’ with my wife and son during that time as well. For my son, I would cook his favorite abalone dish; as for my wife, she is actually very good at making soy sauce chicken.”
Sheren says: “When I used to live with my grandparents, I cooked almost every day, so when I grew up, I ended up not liking kitchen chores. Nowadays, when I want to eat a particular dish, I ‘sweetly’ ask my mom to cook it for me; during CNY, I love eating taro cake and shrimp – in fact, I wouldn’t stop eating it. This year, after the holiday, I’ll need to start filming [[Rosy Business 2]], so I already told my mom not to cook anything, as I need to keep in the best possible state during this time period, therefore I have to refrain from eating some of these goodies.”
During the CNY holiday this year, Wayne will be traveling to the U.S. and Canada to perform – his wife Julia will be accompanying him so that they can spend some time alone together and also celebrate their 13th wedding anniversary; his son will be going on a cruise with his grandmother and other family members. As for Sheren, she will be ‘isolating’ herself during the holiday and preparing for her new role in [[Rosy Business 2]]. She says: “I may go overseas or I may stay in Hong Kong – whatever the case may be, I will be ‘isolating’ myself and only allowing certain people to contact me. I bought a lot of books and DVDs recently; while I am in ‘isolation’ I will be reviewing the script for the new series and thinking about the best way to portray the character.”
Sheren and Wayne are very excited about their new series; when they received the script for the first 10 episodes of the series, they already started discussing it endlessly. In fact, on the day of this interview, as they are admiring the beautiful ocean view and enjoying the dish that they created, they cannot help but discuss the series – reviewing the storyline and analyzing the characters amongst the two of them….goes to show how seriously they take their careers and how absorbed they are in their work. Wayne says: “I can very confidently tell everyone that [Rosy Business 2] will be a good series to watch; this will be the last time that [producer] Lee Tim Shing, [script-writer] Cheung Wah Biu, Sheren, and myself will collaborate as a team on a series. Because Wah Biu will be leaving TVB, all of us really cherish this last opportunity we have to work together, so we will definitely put our best effort into it – the audience can expect an excellent series.”
Sheren says: “I haven’t felt an increase in pressure because of this; in fact, I am looking forward to the ‘surprises’ that producer Lee and Wah Biu will have in store; their pressure is greater than anyone else’s. Our previous series [[Rosy Business]] already had the perfect ending, so as an actress, this time around, I am treating this as an opportunity to ‘start all over again.’ In terms of characters, I will be playing a ‘big sister’ in the Chinese mafia and Wayne will be playing a cop, so in terms of background, the two of us will be on opposite sides, however our relationship will develop to the point where we are both enemies and friends. The setting will be the pre-modern war era; my character does not get married but the way that the love relationship between Wayne and myself will be handled, it will be very deep and meaningful.”
