Hong Kong superstar Andy Lau was rushed back to Hong Kong in the early hours of today after he sustained pelvic fractures from a horseback-riding accident in Thailand.

The 55-year-old star was filming a commercial outside of Bangkok which required a scene of him riding a horse, Coconuts Bangkok reports. Sometime during the shoot on Tuesday, the horse suddenly threw Lau off its back and reportedly stepped on his lower body, according to Apple Daily. He was immediately rushed to a local Thai hospital for treatment. At around 12:15 today (Jan. 19), Lau arrived at Hong Kong International Airport on an emergency medical plane and was taken to the Hong Kong Sanatorium and Hospital in Happy Valley.

A statement posted by a subsidiary of his production company, Focus Group, read: "Whilst filming an advertisement in Thailand on January 17, 2017, Mr. Andy Lau was injured when a horse stepped on him and fractured his pelvis. A medical team took care of him and everything is fine at the moment. There is no cause for concern."

Three of the past "five tigers" of TVB Andy Lau (劉德華), Felix Wong (黃日華), and Michael Miu (苗僑偉) are good friends but we rarely get to see them meet up together. On 04 January in the evening, a netizen shared two photos of them having an outing together and wrote: "Today Andy Lau met up with old friends Felix Wong and Michael Miu." It can be seen from their bright smiles that they are in a very good mood. Andy also took selfies, first taking a selfie with Felix and his wife who were still in their car and then taking another with Michael's daughter Miu Tong who is described as slim and graceful. Hong Kong superstar Andy Lau has spared no expenses in ensuring his wife Carol Zhu delivered her baby in peace.

He reportedly splurged on an S$2,704-a-night room for Carol during her stay in the hospital to deliver their firstborn. The ward boasts of tight security that helped block the swarm of reporters, trying to catch a glimpse of the Heavenly King's baby daughter.
Andy, who finally fulfilled his life-long wish of being a father, reportedly made special arrangements to go in out of the hospital via a secret passageway. His entourage was said to have used the cargo lift to get to the ward in order to avoid reporters who were staking out the hospital.

Andy's mother, who had specially brewed tonic for Carol, had sent it to the recuperating mum through a maid to avoid being seen by the paparazzi.

The Hong Kong singer found out the gender of his baby after taking his wife to an ultrasound scan.

Hong Kong veteran singer Andy Lau has always kept a very low profile when it comes to his personal life.

However, after winning the Best Actor award at the Golden Horse Awards last year, Andy announced that he will soon become a father. Lately, the singer even admitted that his Malaysian ex-beauty queen wife Carol Chu is four months pregnant.

Andy's initial refusal to disclose the gender of his child led to speculations that it was highly possible that Carol is pregnant with a baby girl; there were also rumours which said that she is pregnant with triplets.

According to a recent Hong Kong magazine report, Andy accompanied his wife for a checkup last week and requested the doctor to use the 4D structural ultrasound, which shows clear, real-time images, to determine the gender of the baby.

During the checkup, the singer asked impatiently, "Is it a boy or a girl? Will the baby have a hooked nose like me?"

When the doctor said, "If I'm not mistaken, it's a boy," Andy was so happy that he broke into bouts of hearty laughter.

It is said that Carol will deliver her baby in Hong Kong and to keep his schedule free, Andy reportedly rejected a number of film offers, making a loss of KH$380 million (S$3.08 million).

The singer will be able to spend more time with his wife after February, when he completes the two movies he has on hand.

Andy was also rumoured to have hired Hong Kong's famous gynaecologist He Yong Chao, to help deliver the child.

When asked to clarify the report, the doctor smiled and said, "It's inconvenient for me to comment."

When contacted, Andy's spokesperson in Taiwan expressed, "We do not comment on our artiste's personal life. Thank you for your concern."

The 50-year-old singer and his wife tried various methods, before Carol successfully conceived a baby boy. Hence, the couple has been extra careful in terms of taking preventing measures to protect both mother and child.

Andy not only hired bodyguards, he also engaged two personal nurses to take care of Carol; Andy's mother will also make tonics for her daughter-in-law.

Former "TVB Five Tigers" members Tony Leung and Andy Lau made a rare appearance together at the Star Park Jiangmen City Opening Ceremony (江門市星光公園開園儀式). Other Jiangmen native artists including Eric Tsang, Kiki Sheung, Gillian Chung, and Deep Ng also appeared. The stars-loaded event attracted a large group of local citizens to surround the location.

During the ceremony, Tony and Andy were the most popular, they both were dressed in black and white shirts respectively. Though the two have once been rumored that they were on bad terms, but this time meeting again, Andy and Tony shook hands and were chatting constantly.

Tony expressed that he's currently shooting a new movie The Great Master (一代宗師) in Guangdong, he said: "I am from Taishan and especially took a several hour car ride to come support my hometown Jiangmen. This time, I did not accept any fee for Jiangmen City to invite me, very happy to see so many Jiangmen native artists who also attended. I have to rush back to the filming set later." Tony frankly said that he doesn't go back to his hometown very often, and is happy to see the great development, he hopes to come back more often. Asked if he will buy a house in his hometown? He laughed: "I never thought that far into the future."

Eric Tsang is also very happy that there are nearly 100 artists who took time off their busy schedules to attend the event, he was surprised: "We all have love for our hometown, very touching. I promise that I will make more contributions to my hometown."

As for holding his 30th anniversary concert at the end of the year, Andy expresses it would be memorable and touching. "Very touched, because it's hard to support someone for 30 years. "If there are still people who want me to be in their films even when I'm 70, I would do it. Earlier last year, 49 year old Andy Lau had always told the public that he is not married and said that when he does get married he will announce it to the world, however, turns out that its all a journey of lies. In 2009, Andy's marriage certificate was exposed to the public, he married Carol Chu in June 2008 in the U.S. Since then he was known as the "Liar King of Pop", Andy only announced his apology and wrote on Weibo that he's only married because he wants children and said that its difficult to have children at an older age. So, will only have to rely on medical technology (artificial insemination) to make it happen. As the couple is required to register first before Hong Kong doctors are allowed to perform the procedure. Clearly, Andy is desperate to have a child before marriage.
