Wayne Lai (黎耀祥) accepts an interview at a radio station on 12 February. His basic contract with TVB will expire in May and he denies it is related to low salary and discusses about the salary and benefits during Ricky Wong's (王維基) era. Wayne is able to discuss with them properly this time: "One tends not to retain when one is an adult and what matters most is to build up a good rapport. Hopefully we can change to other working pattern and hopefully it will be more flexible. What we are going to do if we film one series per year and there is no suitable scripts for us? We must film it once we agree."

Wayne discloses his new plan: "I am hoping to develop my career such as hosting shows in the New Year. Previously, my son is young and I will be worried if he films drama in China. Anyway, he is studying in US by himself now. (What about your wife?) She is going with me and do you think I can run away? I will not be worried if she is besides me."

Wayne Lai (黎耀祥) and Sheren Tang (鄧萃雯) accept an interview from the show hosted by Luisa Maria Leitao (黎芷珊) and they become TV King and TV Queen based on the series, The Rosy Business (巾幗梟雄) and No Regrets (巾幗梟雄之義海豪情) for 2 years and the "best filming partners" to the audiences.

Wayne expresses his gratitude towards the film producer, Lee Tim Sing (李添勝) for allowing him to film series with Sheren as The Rosy Business series is considered a turning point for him and the words from Tim Sing and Sheren fulfilled his wish.

As Sheren is famous for her high expectations, Wayne replies he does not think so even when filming No Regrets series as well. Sheren agrees to it and they indeed establish good rapports.

Regarding the collaboration of the "classic team", the netizens feel excited and some even suffer insomnia for 2 nights. As the netizens suggest them to act as husband and wife, siblings, enemies and father and daughter, Sheren is laughing upon hearing father and daughter and Wayne starts to frown: "It depends on her and I have no choice if she wants to act as father and daughter." Wayne Lai's (黎耀祥) 20 years old son returns to Hong Kong during his summer holidays and shares photos of himself driving his father's red sports car, McLaren 570S and wearing branded watch worth $120,000 on social networking website. Hence, it causes criticisms from the netizens. Wayne attends the opening ceremony of Reversal of Fate (逆緣) series on 13 July and explains that his son loves new stuff and the watch belongs to his son. He says: "My wife gives the watch to him as birthday gift and he knows it is an expensive present." His son shares the photo on his private account and it is a good lesson to him. Wayne adds that he is filming with Pat Ha and it is their first meeting today. He praises she looks stylish and increases his heartbeat.

Wayne Lai (黎耀祥) discloses that he will be filming TVB series with Pat Ha (夏文汐) soon during an event on 11 June and it is unsure if they will have relationship scenes. He says: "It is our first collaboration and a fresh feeling as she is a stylish goddess. Her past film roles are full of personal character." Wayne adds that he will try to have afternoon tea with her in order to cultivate feelings during the meeting and trying out their role images. Wayne Lai (黎耀祥) attends a brand event as a spokesperson on 26 April and expresses he is present alone for the first year as the spokesperson. He attends it as a couple team this year and hopes to appear as a family of 3 next year. Wayne does not offering 80% discount if promoting it as a family and when asked if he wished to make the market less competitive, he says: "Nope. When mentioned about Raymond Tsang (曾守明) passed away during stage performance in Guangzhou a few days ago, Wayne said: "Heard that the old classmates help in preparing his funeral and I wish to help them and believe TVB will render its assistance. Raymond and I are old friends and it happens suddenly. It is hard to say and I go for medical check-up. Anyway, I am open and life and death is destined. I will cherish everything I have."

Wayne Lai (黎耀祥) was promoting May Fortune Smile on You (財神駕到) series and when mentioned about crowning as TV King based on Short End of the Stick (公公出宮) series and it was a good start for him, he said: Please do not say it that way and it is rumours only. It is Lee Tim Sing's (李添勝) last workpiece and he wishes to film a happy series."

Wayne expressed he was getting older and needed some rest: "Cannot stand it any longer." He disclosed he could film 5 to 6 series within a year and will reduce to filming 1 or 2 TVB series and considering filming China series.

Asking if he was discussing his work plan during the dinner with Tim Sing and Sheren Tang (鄧萃雯), Wayne said: "Nope. It is a simple dinner and gathering only."

Charmaine Sheh (佘詩曼) sets up her work studio and announces her 'Independence (獨立)' to the world. TV King, Wayne Lai (黎耀祥) congratulated her and expressed that he had no intention to venture overseas and set up his work studio now.

Wayne said: "Work studio is a working pattern in Mainland China. I am a old-fashioned man, feel embarrassed and do not wish to work in unfamiliar environment. I am used to everything in the company and can decide the stuff during filming. We communicate well and I am a family man and it is impossible to 'dump' my sons. Eating too many meals will cause high cholesterol."

When mentioned about TVB has less 'Fadan' and 'Xiao Sheng (小生)' now, Wayne said: "There will be newcomers and we need some time. My son is studying overseas in August and I might be developing my career in Mainland China after 2 to 3 years later. It depends on destiny and we need improvements and responsible for ourselves after all."

Wayne Lai (黎耀祥) attended the live broadcast of Yan Chai Charity Show (慈善星輝仁濟夜) which was held at Tseung Kwan O (將軍澳). In between the show, he and a member performed sand painting and he commented that he learns some new skills on his free time: "It's just the simple skills, he also said I have the talent. (Will spend more time learning?) Where will I find the time! This is easy to learn but difficult to master. One has to have a solid artistic background, so wait until I retire first! (That's a while!) You want me to labor for that long! I've been thinking about retiring in two years!" Speaking of top producer Lee Tim Sing (李添勝) retiring in March, Wayne candidly expressed that he will miss him: "But he is already 67 years old, I don't want him to work too hard." He also revealed that they are planning a huge farewell celebration.

Regarding Lee Tim Sing's production Rosy Business 3 (巾幗梟雄之諜血長天) being frozen, he said he can't do anything about it and will leave it to the executive's decision: "We, actors, don't really mind, we've done our best and that's what matters. (New series "Here Comes The God of Wealth" (財神駕到) is also being frozen?) "Not exactly. The post-production isn't finished yet. Also, period dramas don't really have a predetermined good airing time, it can be aired the next year." Wayne also mentioned that the company plans to air Short End of The Stick (公公出宮) before he and Teresa Mo (毛舜筠) films a new upcoming sitcom which is currently set to have 120 episodes.

Wayne Lai (黎耀祥) attended the celebration banquet of new series, Here Comes the God of Wealth (財神駕到) in Tin Hau and expressed Anthony Wong (黃秋生) deserved to be TV King. He said: "I feel happy about the results. (Did you family console you?) Nope as the results is expected. Anthony is stage play king and movie king. My hands will be shaking if gives the award to me and I do not feel disappointed. In addition, Lord of Shanghai (梟雄) series won Best Drama Serial (最佳劇集) Award. (Eating for celebration?) No idea and hope Anthony will arrange it as he is the winner. (Hope more experienced artistes will act in series after this?) Yes as the audiences and cast team need stimulations. Hope more experienced artistes will participate and it helps to increase the drama quality."

Praised 'Ah Jie' held superior position

When mentioned Law Kar Ying (羅家英) disclosed Liza Wang (汪明荃) felt disappointed for losing TV Queen Award, Wayne said: 'Liza holds a superior position and Kar Ying is concerned for his wife. It is important to feel happy during the ceremony. It resembles to telling everybody that they have been working hard when opening. Although I follow the script, but I feel it is well-written and feel happy for Nancy Wu (胡定欣). (It is reported Nancy has less chance to act as female lead?) She is acting as female lead now and it is my second time to act as main lead in Rosy Business (巾幗梟雄) series and win award. The quantity does not matter."

Thinking of what to eat next time

Wayne also praised eating the fried chicken during the ceremony and said: "It is a good tactic as not easy to do business. We get to eat and relax at the same time and it makes the programme nicer to watch. We ate pizza previously and fried chicken this time. What will it be next time? Steamboat is quite a good idea."

Wayne Lai (黎耀祥) won TV King Award thrice and attended celebration banquet for the finale of Lord of Shanghai (梟雄) series at Tseung Kwan O TVB City. When asked if he felt upset for losing TV King Award to Ruco Chan (陳展鵬) in Singapore and Malaysia, Wayne said: "Nope and every competition is fair. I feel Ruco performs very well and the audiences' voting occupy large percentage. I guess the audiences in Malaysia have different likings. He has a satisfactory performance and long working experiences, and deserves it. It does not matter and every place has different judgement standards." He hope the audiences will notice the company and observe every artiste's acting skills, and allow the audiences to get used to voting and expressing their opinions."

Hoped the audiences will accept new generation artistes

When asked if he was worried about losing TV King Award during TVB Anniversary Awards, Wayne said: "Nope and I received the award before and it will be a blessings if winning it again. It is big encouragement to many colleagues and hope they will win it. It does not matter to me and I receive it thrice but it does not mean sufficient. It is a complicated and embarrassing question as there is no reason to reject when people encourage and praise you, but is not very important. The audiences support me for many years and gives me lots of confidence. In this line, we need new artistes and hope the award will be given to more newcomers." Wayne also wished the audiences will accept new artistes and the company give them more opportunities. This allowed the industry to grow healthily and hoped Lord of Shanghai series will win Best Serial Drama (最佳劇集) Award.

Wayne Lai (黎耀祥) attended the worshipping ceremony of TVB new series, Here Comes the God of Wealth (財神駕到) in Tseung Kwan O TVB City.

Wayne disclosed his right eye was injured by Pal Sinn (單立文) during working: "I applied eye drop for two days and it was not serious so I did not see a doctor. (Seek revenge?) No way to seek revenge." When mentioned about Lord of Shanghai (梟雄) series starring him achieved high ratings, Wayne replied it was a good beginning. Mentioning the audiences commented that some stories in the series did not make sense, Wayne said: "Some scenes might not be realistic." He added the audiences had freedom of speech and did not mind losing to Anthony Wong (黃秋生): "Anthony is definitely superior as he has enriching experience in stage play and movie and I should learn from him. He adds in much creativity into the role such as speaking in Shanghainese ascent and there is many breakthrough. (But some remarked it spoilt the whole drama.) There is many considerations during filming and many changes when creating it. Most importantly, people are placing attention on it." Wayne expressed it was impossible to receive positive reviews all the way.

In addition, the netizens pointed his acting skills was not as good as Anthony and Wayne said: "Definitely and it is hard to surpass him. The main position belongs to him and we stand beside him to match him."

A few days ago, artiste Wayne Lai (黎耀祥) attended healthy food brand event as spokesperson and he expressed he took good care of his health especially at this age. Other than taking health supplements, Wayne also went for healthy food and swimming: "I will do exercises whenever not filming. Recently, I go for swimming, running and eating bland food everyday."

When asked if he will reduce filming due to health reason, Wayne said: "Nope as I will film one series at a time so as to have good condition. I am willing to try out new stuff such as filming movie and reality show in Mainland China." Wayne Lai (黎耀祥) attended the event as a safety driving ambassador and distributed goodie bag to the drivers on the road. Many female fans requested to take photo with him together and his wife drove a 7-seater vehicle to fetch Wayne.

Dared not buy new vehicle for his son

Wayne expressed that he was a driver whom obeyed the traffic laws but his driving licence points was deducted before. He said: "I am considered lucky that I am not required to go to court for driving licence revoked. I always try to warn myself and my wife fetches me most of the time, but I drive by myself when returning to TVB." Wayne disclosed that he was getting old and had passed the era of changing new cars, and said: "Instead, my son keeps telling me about new designs of the cars and I need to explain and deal with him. (Buy a car for him?) He already approaches me and I tell him 2 years later. Ultimately, new drivers need to practise as accident may happen."

When asked if he was buying property currently, Wayne replied that the property were too expensive and said: "Few years ago, I did think about it but it is too expensive and not worth it. In fact, renting is okay as we can rent it cheap and less pressure." He added that he did not have any expectations and said: "I have no hobby and everything I do it is for the sake of children. I am satisfied as long as there is good script and opponent."

Losing the TV King title to Roger Kwok recently, the already three-time winner, Wayne Lai, said that he is not disappointed at all with the result.

As reported on On CC News, the actor, who was approached by fans and media alike while leaving TVB City after the ceremony, stated that he had already guessed Roger would win the award based on the support the actor received.

"Roger Kwok is the hot favourite, and he really deserves the award," said Wayne, smiling cheerfully. "We already predicted that he would win it."

Asked if he would be attending parties after the show, Wayne replied in the negative, saying that he had a lot of work to do.

Preferring his freedom rather than wealth, three-time TV King, Wayne Lai stated that his real life is different from the life of luxury in his drama, "Overachievers".

In an interview with HK Headlines, the actor stated that true happiness to him is to live freely - both physically and mentally.

"Happiness is to have the physical freedom to do anything I want, and the freedom from mental stress," said Wayne.

He continued saying that many wealthy celebrities, including actors such as Andy Lau and Tony Leung, may have a lot of money, but lack freedom of movement, as they will always attract the media and public attention wherever they go.

"But I can go about doing my routine with no hassle at all. I can go shopping or buy snacks at food stalls with no problem," said Wayne.

The actor, who believes that money is just a means of security, stays true to his philosophy and even has his family live in a rented property near Sheung Shui, while his own residence is rented to others.

TV King, Wayne Lai (黎耀祥), and Louisa So (蘇玉華), attended the promotion campaign for TVB new series, Rear Mirror (載得有情人), and both were profusely sweating under a hot and humid day.

Wayne confessed that attending promotion activities was harder than filming series while Louisa felt that sweating could help to detox her body. When asked if they had good rapport, Wayne said: "We seldom collaborate together all these years and it was around more than 10 years since they acted together. However, everyone has extensive experience though."

When mentioned about Raymond Lam's (林峯) departure from TVB, Wayne said: "It is considered good news and he can explore other opportunties. He may give the audiences different feelings upon exploring the outside world and I will support him. (Any future plans?) I will stay in TVB for further improvements."

When the reporters asked if he will become TV King after Raymond Lam's departure, Wayne denied and said: "It is not related. The competition is different every year and we have Julian Cheung (張智霖) last year. Every artiste's chance is equal."

When asked if Louisa will support Raymond Lam's decision too, she said: "The world is very big and he should try something that he likes. It is worth to give a try if there is better opportunity and he has my support too."

Yesterday Wayne Lai, Louisa So, Jennifer Shum, King Sir and Tony Hung attended the costume fitting of TVB new series Men Getting Married. Wayne laughed and said the series plays with uniform enticing, he'll be playing Louisa's driver. Wayne expressed the last time he worked with Louisa was over 10 years ago in TVB series Anti Crime, where they played a bickering pair. He's happy to collaborate with her again.

Wayne said: "After 10+ years, we've had our experiences and Louisa is a good actress. Its rare to get such a strong co-star, I'm look forward to it. At my age, its difficult to find a partner to match me. If this pairing does well, then I'll have more to choose from and not just Sheren Tang."

It was reported Sheren Tang thinks she has a tumor in her neck, Wayne expressed he does not really keep in touch with Sheren. Its been several months since they last seen each other, but last time he didn't feel she had any issues. Will he tell Sheren to relax a little? He said: "Sheren working with me is a joy because I am quite laid back. (Will you call her to show your concern?) I'll have to see what the situation is like first. I always tell her to open up. I know she gets anxious about her work, whereas I am more relaxed. I've always seen fame like its a floating cloud."

Louisa wanted Wayne's Son to Marry Her

Louisa was very pleased to have the opportunity to work with Wayne again. She said this year is an enriching year for her because she got to work with Gardner Tse, Anthony Wong and Wayne, three smart men from three different industries. She feels very blessed. "I've already got the script for 6 episodes, its great. I'm really excited." What's most exciting to Louisa is that she gets to work with her stage play mentor King Sir. "We collaborated before in stage plays, but its strange, after so many years at TVB, we have never collaborated in a series before. Fate has come, I will really take advantage of it." Louisa recalls she used to joke around with Wayne's son in the past. She would tell his son to marry her when he grows up. "That time I called Wayne and his wife my in-laws. I heard his son is now all grown up, I look forward to meet him."

A furious Wayne Lai recently announced that he will take legal action against a mainland company impersonating as his representative if the said company refused to withdraw their false statements regarding him and several other artistes.

Groove Asia reported that earlier, a mainland company made a claim saying that they have an artiste management contract with several Hong Kong stars including Wayne Lai, Lynn Hung, Irene Wan and Simon Yam.

The company also posted a list on their official website that shows the artistes' sponsorship and appearance fees, hinting that they are responsible for making arrangements for the artistes.

However, the fees listed on the website were all sky-high, showing that the company is trying to gain profits from the artistes' name.

Wayne Lai, who heard the news recently, denied ever accepting any jobs through the said company.

The actor also posted a message on his Weibo for the company, saying, "To the representative of the related party, please have some self-respect and delete the false advertisements, otherwise there will certainly be legal action taken against you."
