Hong Kong actor Joe Ma’s (馬德鐘), son, Xiang Ma (馬在驤), is following his father’s footsteps. It was revealed the 20 year old Xiang Ma recently signed with Shaw Brothers Studios, the same company as Joe Ma. However, he is no stranger to the public eye as he already some modeling experience when he walked the runway for Hermes in 2017. Xiang Ma is currently studying Mechanical Engineering in Australia. Joe Ma and his wife are often posting pictures of their son, who is an avid and decorated swimmer.

While there are no details on what parts of the entertainment industry Xiang Ma will be tackling, but it looks like Papa Ma has already groomed the younger Ma well.

Joe Ma (馬德鐘) attends the opening ceremony of a food shop and expresses he does not place any investment but rooting for his friend only. He feels the renovation is unique and may work together in the future.

Joe has been investing in food business all along and does not have intention to open new shop now due to filming TVB series earlier. He will be filming series in China in November and asking if he celebrating Christmas and New Year there, Joe says: "May not celebrate New Year there. (Your son is not accompanying you?) No need to. We have our own lives."

When asked if his son is currently dating, Joe replies nope and believes he will tell him if he is dating: "No need to feel embarrassed and we discuss about it when he is small. (Accept the fact that he is dating early?) He is 19 years old and growing up now. (Has he dated before?) Nope. He seldom goes out and does not bring anybody back home. (Are you worried?) Nope. He has his own life and busy with practising swimming and studying. (Any girls having crush on him?) No idea but I guess there is. Otherwise, he is considered very lousy."

Joe Ma (馬德鐘) and his wife, Karen Cheung (張筱蘭) share taking care of their son, Ma Zai Xiang (馬在驤) knowledge at an event on 25 May and he is turning 18 years old this year. As they want him to have a happy childhood, they let him choose his favourite activity since small. Zai Xiang is a swimming member in the school and has been training everyday for 2018 Asian Games. Joe says: "I do not feel heart pain for him as guys need to train hard." Karen Cheung says: "I feel heart pain for him as he is training under the water for long hours. It makes his skin dry and I help him to apply sun care product."

Artiste, Joe Ma (馬德鐘) expressed he will be going to Mainland China to film series recently and had completed the discussion for two scripts. He added that he will be going to Mainland China often and was used to the local culture. When asked if he encountered any terrifying incidents there, Joe said with laughter: "I am considered lucky. Perhaps I worked as cop before and did not anything terrifying." Asked if he will continue to film with TVB, Joe said: "I have no contract with TVB now and will be filming series in Mainland China first. In fact, there is many television stations in Hong Kong and Smooth Talker (以和為貴) series is my TVB series temporarily. Please continue to give me support."

Artiste, Joe Ma (馬德鐘), Kate Tsui (徐子珊), Tracy Chu (朱千雪), Jacqueline Wong (黃心穎), Johnson Lee (李思捷) and others attended the promotion activity for new series, Smooth Talker (以和為貴), in Sha Tian (沙田). On the stage, the lion group team seemed to have some arguments and Joe Ma immediately assumed his role as negotiator in the series and managed to calm them down. The scene was indeed amusing.

Joe expressed this will be his last TVB series temporarily and hope it will achieve ratings of 30 pts and above. He said: "All my previous series hit 30 pts and my last series will have the same result. It is a comedy series and my role has some breakthrough as well."

Invested in eatery shop

Joe disclosed he returned from Shenzhen not long ago and attended the opening ceremony of an eatery shop invested by him and his friends from other industry. He said: "This is my first time to invest in food business. I love to eat and hope to open Hong Kong eatery shop in Mainland China. (Tend the shop personally?) Not necessarily but might pop down at times. (Open branch in Mainland China?) Depends on the plan. (Open a store in Hong Kong?) Let's see the situation first."

Artiste Joe Ma (馬德鐘) used violin to play the the series, Tiger Cubs 2 (飛虎II), theme song while promoting in Yau Tong (油塘) and when asked if he had confidence to become TV King, he said: "Yes. The series is currently airing and please continue to vote for us. (Who is your strongest competitor?) Nobody. Him Law (羅仲謙) and others in Tiger Cubs 2. (Roger Kwok (郭晉安) is not the strongest competitor?) He has already receives awards several times."

Joe mentioned about his violin skills and said: "I love it but start learning it at 30 years old due to environment problem. I learn for a year only due to lack of time. (To make your wife happy?) My wife is very touched when our son and I play violin for wedding anniversary last year. (Your son is talented in everything?) The competition is tough nowadays and additional skill is good for protection."

Hong Kong actor Joe Ma recently revealed that he has plans to establish his own company.

According to Yahoo! Hong Kong, the actor, who attended a promotional event for his new series "Tiger Cubs 2" recently, stated that while he is still discussing a contract renewal with TVB, he has thought about forming his own production studio.

"The decision has not been finalised, but I wish to invest in a joint-venture partnership," said Joe, adding that he will be filming a mainland drama in January.

Though he has yet to determine the exact amount of investment to be made, Joe said that he hopes to contribute more to the film industry.

In regard to "Tiger Cubs 2" broadcast, Joe said that the response has been very good and that he has confidence about the series' chance at the upcoming TVB Anniversary Awards.

Artiste Joe Ma (馬德鐘) became the spokesperson for wrist watch advertisement and disclosed he will buy new wrist watch whenever he filmed series so as to keep it as memory. Currently, he collected more than 10 watches and requested the brand company to produce a series of army watches to represent Tiger Cubs II (飛虎2). When asked if he will buy luxury watch to keep it for collection, Joe said: "Yes but not many as I am not considered very rich. (You son wear your watch?) Rarely but everyone has watch now as sponsored by the company. (Any couple watch with your wife?) Nope, I plan to design an exclusive couple watch for ourselves."

Joe also disclosed he was currently busy with promotion campaigns for Tiger Cubs II (飛虎2) and will be filming series in Beijing shortly. He added that his contract with TVB will be expiring end of this year and many companies had already approached him. Joe said: "The response for Tiger Cubs II is good and I have not reach a decision yet. (Rumoured that TVB wants to create contract for managers too?) I have no planning yet and already leave TVB for few years. (Which term of contract is most important?) Money and development opportunities. Hope my level will increase." When asked if Myolie Wu (胡杏兒) told him about her situation, Joe replied nope and had no updates of her current situation.

TVB Artiste, Joe Ma (馬德鐘) attended an event and expressed he had competed filming for the series, Harmony is a Virtue (以和為貴), and currently busy with the promotion for the series, Tiger Cubs II (飛虎). He said: "The response for the series, Tiger Cubs II has very good response in Mainland China so we must continue with the promotion. When asked if he will take a vacation during Christmas, Joe replied he will go to a sunshine place to relax and said: "I have not decide about the place and need to complete the filming in Beijing first. Joe Ma recently revealed that it is very likely that he will renew his contract with TVB.

As reported on On CC News, the actor, whose per-series contract with the company will end after completing his new series, "Harmony is a Virtue", stated that he will renew his contract if there are no issues with the terms and conditions.

"I have been with TVB since my debut, and I have no problem working with the company again," said Joe.

The 46-year-old continued, "I am very familiar with the workplace environment and I have a lot of friends here. TVB is a great platform for me to show my talent to the audience."

Asked if he would sign a management contract instead of a per-series contract this time around, the "Tiger Cubs II" star said that everything depends on the contractual terms.

Joe Ma (馬德鐘) was filming the protest scene for TVB new series, Harmony is Precious 以和為貴 (Temporary title) in Cyberport. He acted as mediator and was trying to settle the disputes. Joe disclosed he had been filming series for many nights and said: "I stay up for around two to three nights and my throat starts to get infected."

When asked about the argument between Anthony Wong (黃秋生) and TVB before Anthony's birthday, Joe expressed that they worked together before and he must discussed the details before working, and said: "Have to discuss the details before start working. Unless it is already agreed but none eventually. It is most important to safeguard oneself."

Artiste Joe Ma (馬德鐘) accepted an interview from radio station in Tai Po (大埔) and when mentioned about the upcoming Father's Day, Joe expressed that that day is his father's birthday according to lunar calendar and they will have a dinner celebration together.

Asked about the type of present he hoped to receive from his son, Joe smiled and said "I have no wish at all. (His result is poor?) His result is too good thus the school keeps asking him to do stuff which makes him very busy.". Joe disclosed that his son is 16-years old and busy with school work and sport training, and he does not discover any signs of his son is dating. He said "I have been asking him since he is 12-years old and he always answers me he is not dating. But he is indeed extremely busy and only surfs net whenever he reaches home." When the reporters asked if he will share safety precaution (sexual knowledge) with his son, Joe admitted that this is the father's responsibility but he should have gain some knowledge since he studies in an international school.

Upon asking about his job, Joe expressed he frequently went to Mainland China for stage performances and will be filming TVB series in September. As for Tiger Cubs 2 (飛虎2), it will be airing in some time during Autumn season.

When mentioned about Director, Oxide Pang's (彭順) extramartial affair and he will be returning today, Joe disclosed that he worked with him once and inconvenient to provide his comment as an outsider, and said "I hear he is coming back but I do not know the details. (What is your method of getting along as husband and wife?) More chatting and communication. It is better to leave it to the parties involved to explain and I hope this matter will be over soon.".

Joe Ma (馬德鐘) and his wife, Cheung Siu Lan (張筱蘭) attended the dinner function for Ren Ai charity and Joe expressed that he had became their ambassador for several years. When asked if they think of becoming the vice-premier, Joe replied that the charity spirit is vital and he will bring his son along to attend any charity activities.

According to the rumour, Joe Ma (馬德鐘) shall replace Sammy Leung's role (森美) in the TVB new series, The Apostle (使徒行者), as Sammy was feeling unwell. However, Joe left a message in his weibo (微博) that he will reject the series.

He said "To all my dear fans, I know you have an intense and unhappy discussion whether I will film the TVB Series, The Apostle (使徒行者). But rest assured that I will reject this series." Thus, many fans supported him by leaving their comments and and looking forward to his new series.

A few days ago, Joe Ma and Linda Chung were shooting an explosion scene for TVB new series Tiger Cubs II and had an accident. The two were sent to the hospital right after they completed the scene. Joe's MRI showed he had a tear in his ligaments in his right hand. Yesterday morning, he wrote on Weibo letting everyone know he's fine and was discharged from the hospital that afternoon. He expressed he's fine now, but will need some time to rest. He was initially suppose to head back to Mainland to shoot a new drama, but because of this accident, he may have to turn it down.

Joe said: "The doctor said I had 2 out of 3 ligaments torn, and if the third one was torn, it could have resulted in a dislocated joint and I would have had to get surgery."

Joe recalled the accident, "The moment after the explosion, I'm not sure if it was because of the steam in the air, but I just naturally fell forward. I didn't want Linda Chung to get even more injuries, so I put all my weight on my shoulders and placed my two hands on the ground. That's how I got my injury!" He expressed after the accident, he just knew it was very painful, but believes the severity of the pain wasn't too serious. Also, that day was the last day of filming, Joe didn't want to delay the filming progress, so after a quick break, they finished up the scene before sunset. Joe expressed he asked Linda if she was okay after the accident, and suggested she get a full check up to ensure there aren't any muscle or bone injuries.

Actor Joe Ma, the lead star of "Tiger Cubs 2", recently admitted that the sequel is his most difficult project to date.

As reported in Mingpao Weekly, the actor, who reprises his role as SDU Senior Inspector Chin Hon To, lamented, "I have been acting for 20 years and this sequel is by far the hardest drama to film."

He explained that while the original was filmed during the fall, "Tiger Cubs 2" started filming during the hot summer weather.

"Imagine moving around in such hot weather and perform stunts while wearing really thick uniforms that are packed with heavy gear. We also have a lot of training scenes and most of the scenes are shot in the mountains," disclosed the actor.

He added that the mountains were especially hard to shoot in, as the climate ranges from extremely sunny to heavy rain, but added, "No matter how difficult, we should be optimistic in facing these challenges!"

Following the footsteps of stars such as Michael Miu and Cecilia Cheung, "Tiger Cubs 2" actor Joe Ma recently disclosed that he will be sending his 15-year-old son to further his studies abroad.

As reported on Oriental Daily, at the 2013 Overseas Students Yan Chai Charity Dinner recently, Joe, who is known as a strict father, stated that his son Ma Zaixiang will be going to France to continue to studies.

When asked about his decision, Joe stated, "I want my son to experience more of the world while he can, and learn to be independent."

He jokingly added, "And I won't mind if he brings home a French girlfriend one day!"

Meanwhile, the actor, who is currently filming "Tiger Cubs 2", revealed that he will be flying to mainland China in October to film another drama as soon as filming of the upcoming TVB series' wraps up.

Yesterday TVB new series Tiger Cubs II was shooting in Sha Tin. The big bad guy Johnson Lee was seen in a black hoodie, surrounded by a group of SDU members including Joe Ma, Him Law, Oscar Leung and Benjamin Yuen. Due to the thick and heavy SDU uniforms, the men were sweating nonstop. Joe kept eating to replenish his physical strength and avoid a heatstroke.

Joe played the pilot Vincent in Triumph in the Skies ten years ago, but did not participate in the sequel. Today, the sequel is well-acclaimed, does Joe feel he lost out on the opportunity? He said: "Vincent from TITS died, and also when TITS 2 began filming, I had some issues with my TVB contract and didn't make a decision yet." TITS fans really miss Vincent though, Joe expressed he hopes there will be an opportunity to shoot TITS 3. He also praised the TITS 2 cast looking very hot in their uniforms and it had triggered his good memories too.

Linda plays a police undercover in Tiger Cubs II. Although she is paired with Joe, they do not have any kiss scenes. She laughed: "The plot will explain my role is very man, so there will not be any kiss scenes. There will only be expression through the eyes."

Joe Ma and his wife Karen Cheung celebrates their 20th wedding anniversary. Earlier the couple did a wedding photoshoot at several old districts and buildings in HK. These locations are a record of their love story. Joe and Karen's photoshoot are different from the average romantic fairytale-styled wedding photoshoots, Joe said: "The old cultural districts and antiques embodies many memories, filled with deep feelings and meaning. In reality, a long lasting and harmonious marriage is just like viewing an old cultural district and antiques. The more you look at them, the more feeling and value there are. It is a continuous feeling, so we wanted to breakthrough the conventional wedding photoshoots and try something different." Prior to the photoshoot, the couple did a lot of research online on HK's old districts and antiques.

In March, the couple hired a famous English photographer Simon Wheatley to help them with this photoshoot. Joe and his wife were actively participating through the whole process from the shoot until the post-production; they took this project very seriously. Many of their good business friends and local fashion designer sponsored them as well. They spent two days traveling around 10 locations in HK, every location was filled with unique characteristics and value.

The couple's favorite location was The Wisdom Path and Temple Street was the place where they frequently loitered during the early years of their marriage.

Yesterday Joe Ma and Oceane Zhu attended the promotional event for the TVB Pearl broadcast of American TV series The Following. Joe's TVB contract had already ended, he expressed once he completes filming a Mainland series, he'll be coming back in June to shoot Tiger Cubs 2. Asked if he's coming back to rescue TVB? He said: "Don't say that! Last time, I hard a great time filming the series. This time, I'm very excited to be the leader of the SDU team." Joe expressed the sequel will be airing during the normal prime time hours. Does he have confidence to help TVB win back some face? He said: "It's hard to say, but there are currently not many police series that are this tough around. Last time, the audience really enjoyed it. So I hope they'll continue to support us."

Although Oceane is in the sitcom Come Home Love, which had been rated higher than the other two series, she stressed she catches the two series herself. Asked whether she has trouble understanding the stories too? She said: "Why won't I understand? I think if you watched from beginning to end, it would be a very good watch." As for Christine Kuo's poor Cantonese, the audience are having trouble understanding what she's saying? Oceane defended her: "I understand all of it, very clear! After all, she did come back from overseas and has really worked very hard. I hope everyone can be a little more lenient on her. Actually her Cantonese is better than mines. I can see she speaks better than me. She has motivated me to put even more effort into my Cantonese." Oceane directly expressed she hopes to date a HK guy and practice her Cantonese. Asked whats her boyfriend standards? She said: "Just as long as he's taller than me. I don't mind him being fat, but not too ugly. He should have some kind of talent in art, the best would be if he can draw and make music."
