TVB Entertainment News

Yesterday around 10pm, Charmaine Sheh was in Causeway Bay filming the series  [Heaven and Earth]. That night, Charmaine was filming a scene where she has to run across the street and chase a bunch of youths carrying mattresses; due to all the cars in the street, she had to re-film the scene numerous times. After she finished filming, Charmaine immediately put her big coat back on for warmth, then diligently sat down with the director and others to study upcoming scenes – so hardworking.

Moses Chan and Bernice Liu have developed an underground relationship in the recent year, looks like even a storm can't break them apart. But, it was rumored that after Bernice stepped into Hollywood, their relationship has changed. Yesterday a report said that Moses felt lonely and started love sparks with Charmaine Sheh who had just broken up with Kevin Cheng. The two are currently shooting for new series [Can't Buy Me Love] and would often flirt. Also, Moses has successfully won Charmaine's heart using coffee. Bernice's father also especially went to TVB city to confront Moses, helping his daughter.

Yesterday Moses expressed through the phone: "The reports are completely ridiculous, especially getting Bernice's father into this. (Bernice's father scolded you?) The made up dialogue is pretty funny, Bernice's father is someone outside of the industry, doing this is unfair to him." He expressed that Bernice and him are "just like old times, good friends". Asked if Charmaine has any feelings? Moses said: "Haha! What kind of feelings? A big Kevin Cheng is in the studio right next to us!" He expressed that he did not share coffee with just Charmaine, everyone else got a share too.

Although Moses just casually responded to the new romance, but Bernice clearly felt differently, the night before yesterday she appeared displeased: "Then I am happy for him, new lovers together at last." She expressed that she will not give Valentine's Day gift to Moses. Bernice responded again yesterday: "Moses and I rarely see each other, the reports are just for entertainment." As for if Moses and Charmaine are together, is she ok with it? Bernice said: "I have always been ok with it, we have always been friends. Also, I am currently busy with my work." Some people say that no matter how busy you are, you must watch over your boyfriend carefully? Bernice said: "I don't watch! No boyfriend, how can I watch?" Do you plan to let Moses go? "I feel that its best to focus on your own part." She strongly stressed that her father never went to talk to Moses, it was just that her father often drives her around, therefore he met her friends and colleagues. Bernice said: "That time, my dad was just greeting Moses."

Niki Chow is a fan of "Big Eyes" (contact lenses), as their spokesperson, she puts on contact lenses every day to create three different images showing the aesthetic styles of Big Eyes contact lenses. Niki said that usually when she attends promotional events or doing a photoshoot, she would wear "big eyes con" to make her eyes appear more lively. For the advertisement, she looked elegant, lively and fashionable to accommodate each of the different styles of contact lenses. The results had Blink Blink effects too, Niki said that she got a generous price being the spokesperson. The advertisers even gave her fish maw and other food products to protect her eyes.

Real estate agents here, start taking notes. Charmaine Sheh, one of Hong Kong's most popular TVB actresses and its top earner for 2009 (from dramas and endorsements), is considering putting her money on properties on the island.

The 34-year-old, who was in town last weekend for the inaugural StarHub TVB Awards ceremony, had recently declared wanting to "invest in property" but has yet to "decide on a location."

When reporters suggested Singapore, her face lit up and she enthused in excitement, "That is a pretty good idea!" before she continued rattling on how she's impressed and in love with the country's "cleanliness and the good city-planning."

Dressed in a resplendent white cocktail dress, Charmaine was all smiles when she commented on her position as the top-earning TVB actress of 2009. "Honestly, I was very happy when I read that report. I'm not sure how the others fared last year but I am pretty pleased with it. I hope to earn even more this year but I still think that health is most important."

She revealed that she "hasn't had a good sleep for a few days. I only slept for five hours for the past three to four days!"

After her goody-two shoes turn in the hit-period drama series, Beyond the Realm of Conscience, Charmaine Sheh will reunite with Moses Chan in two upcoming back-to-back drama series, Heaven and Earth and Arrival of Princess. At the press conference of the award ceremony, the two stars appeared to be comfortable in each other's company, cracking jokes at one another.

"We don't phone one another but we do talk about everything else. For example, properties," the pair chirped in unison.

Despite having worked together for three consecutive projects, Charmaine said that they are not tired of working with each other. "That's because Moses He was a fatty [in Beyond the Realm of Conscience]. He is skinnier now, and will portray a madman [in Arrival of Princess]. His character would even fart at me and [co-star] Chen Fala's faces in the show." she said between giggles.

Despite the record-breaking ratings of Beyond the Realm of Conscience, both veteran actors appear unfazed at the impending number crunch awaiting them.

Unperturbed, Moses commented, "As long as we are happy working with each other, that is all that matters - as long as it is fun!"

With Valentine's Day round the corner, we questioned both artistes on their rumoured longtime squeezes and fellow TVB colleagues, Bernice Liu and Kevin Cheng.

While Charmaine was more upfront and candid about her ongoing rumours with Kevin, as she believed the "very helpful and timely" rumours gave a hand in promoting Beyond the Realm of Conscience, Moses, on the other hand, dropped roundabout answers.

The tall actor, deviated from the topic and instead glossed over it by saying how rare it is for Valentine's Day to coincide with the first day of the Lunar New Year and wished for all couples in the world to have a "happy reunion."

He only started to open up when reporters threw him non-romantic topics such as his keen interest in coffee.

"Yes [I hope to open up my own coffee store] and I really do hope to have my own coffee brand. I am thinking about it every single second. I'm serious!" Moses earnestly shared.

Charmaine chimed in response to her co-actor's claim and wisecracked, "Ah Mo coffee?"

Ever since their famed collaboration as onscreen sweethearts in the epic Heart of Greed and Moonlight Resonance, the media has been abuzz over Raymond Lam's relationship with his co-star, Linda Chung. Previously rumoured to have spent two years pursuing her, Raymond puts his foot down and clears the air.

"We are not in contact," he flatly replied with a smile.

When reporters asked if he would like to experience an exciting romance this year, Raymond laughed and said, "Saying that makes me want to sigh."

"It is actually very normal for young people to be in a relationship. But all these media attention adds on additional stress. I try to immerse myself in work so that I do not have time to think about this (romance)."

Also present at the interview is Hong Kong TVB actress Chen Fala, 28. As Raymond's colleague and co-star in Moonlight Resonance, she nodded in agreement and believes that it is best "to leave things in the hands of fate" as such matters "cannot be forced".

With a busy schedule ahead for him (filming for his new movie will commence on the fourth day of the Lunar New Year), Raymond revealed that he has no special plans in store for the upcoming Valentine's Day. Instead, the tall, dark, charming one would like to "hang out with friends for a meal" and "catch up on sleep" as he foresees many sleepless nights ahead of him when work begins.

As an established actor with a blossoming singing career, Raymond was previously touted by the press to be the top earning male TVB artist for 2009. He sheepishly confessed that he has no knowledge of this piece of news although he admits that his earnings "have increased as compared to previous years".

Explaining himself, the 31-year-old said, "In 2009, I was more focused on being a singer. A singer's time is more flexible and that provided me with more time to earn extra money. I do hope that my earnings will continue to increase this year too."

Spurred on by Raymond's words, Fala jested and revealed her plans to work hard and "earn as much money as him". The budding actress believes that nothing else is more important to her than work now.

With no concrete plans to make a music debut, Fala expressed her hesitance on being tasked with such a humongous responsibility. The nubile actress believes that singing is an entirely different thing from acting and feels that "she is not at that stage yet".

Contrary to what she said, Raymond believes that Fala "has a really great voice" and thinks that she should have an album of her own. He even expressed interest in collaborating with her in the near future.

"You can't make any NGs when you're singing live. When you're acting, NGs are acceptable. I have to prepare myself properly first from my technique to my style," Fala logically explained.

HONG KONG: Former actress Gigi Lai who changed her name and consulted a celebrity fertility specialist in hopes of getting a child, is now two months pregnant.

According to Hong Kong media, Lai was overjoyed when she found out she was pregnant and messaged her close friends about it.

"This time, we finally struck. I am so happy. My husband is so anxious and tells me to be careful," said Lai in her text message.

39-year-old Lai and wealthy businessman Patrick Ma, who is 14 years her senior, tied the knot last January. The couple love children but it was not easy for a woman of Lai's age to conceive, so Lai had pulled out all the stops in a bid to make it happen.

She changed her name to "Li Jia Er" - which sounds the same phonetically as the phrase "adding a son", on the advice of her geomancer, who said it would increase her chances of getting pregnant.

She also got top fertility specialist Clement Ho, who has treated stars like Hong Kong actresses Carina Lau and Sandra Ng, to aid her in her quest for a child.

When her husband learned of her pregnancy, he was so anxious he cancelled their wedding anniversary party to let her rest.

Lai's mother-in-law has also started staying by her side and personally takes care of her diet.

Ma reportedly decided to buy another luxury residence for Lai as a gift after Lai was found to be pregnant and will bring her to pick out a place once the their child's condition is stable.

Ma had previously bought his wife a villa, a yacht and a luxury car worth a total of about HK$17.2 million (S$3.1 million), spent HK$20 million (S$3.6 million) to expand his brother-in-law Lai Ying's beauty salon business.
