Selena Lee (李施嬅), who has been with TVB for over 16 years, announced her departure from the company. She joined TVB after competing in the 2003 Miss Hong Kong pageant. She recently wrapped up filming on “Forensic Heroes IV” (法證先鋒IV), which will be her last drama with TVB.

In an interview with Oriental Daily News, Selena Lee says, “Thank you to the media for asking me whether I am leaving TVB or not. My name has been removed from TVB’s website. It is true that my contract with them just ended, but my relationship with TVB is still very good. I am thankful to TVB for always cultivating me, allowing me to achieve some success overseas. It’s time for this student to graduate and venture out.”

Selena Lee also posted on IG and Facebook addressing her departure. Part of the message says, “The child has grown up. It’s time to see the world. There is a heavy feeling of unwillingness to leave my TVB colleagues, producers, directors, etc, but I believe this is just a temporary departure. There will be a day where we will reunite once again.”

Former TVB actress, Jess Sum (沈卓盈), shocked fans today when she announced she got married. Jess Sum left TVB in January after being with the company for 16 years. At the time, she said she wasn’t in a rush to get married, but it turns out Jess Sum and her husband, Calvin, tied the knot on February 16th in Phuket, Thailand. It turns out the couple had already taken their wedding pictures in Paris and England last December.

When asked when her husband proposed, Jess Sum reveals, “It was around the middle of last year. I was pretty happy and it was romantic. I’ll have to same some of the details for us. After the proposal, we went to take the wedding pictures.” When asked if she was in a rush to have children, Jess Sum said, “At this moment, I’m focusing on my career. Having children depends on fate.” On whether she left TVB to get married, she said, “There is no correlation. It was really for my own career. Everything this year has been good changes for me.” When asked if she will be having a wedding banquet in Hong Kong, Jess Sum says she hasn’t decided and will share with everyone once there is good news.

Former TVB actor, Raymond Lam (林峯), left TVB in 2014 to join EEG Entertainment. He expanded his acting and singing career and even opened up his own work studio. As for his management contract, he is signed to Louis Koo’s (古天樂) company, Sky High Entertainment. After departing for 5 years, TVB held a press conference today officially announcing Raymond Lam’s return to the station.

Raymond Lam says his decision to return to TVB was not sudden. He said, “In these past 5 years, I have had dinner with former colleagues from TVB. They also asked me when I am coming back. My main focus is on the project. I hope to work with former colleagues that saw me grow up. I am very happy.”

As for his music career, he is signed with TVB’s “Voice Entertainment.” Raymond Lam revealed, “I am planning my 20th anniversary concert next year. There will be a nationwide concert tour. In May, I will be having a warm up concert in Macau. I will also have a few shows in China because I haven’t stepped onto the dance stage in two years. I need to warm up first. We are also preparing to step into the Hong Kong Coliseum to prepare for next year’s concert.”

Ever since Nicholas Tse (謝霆鋒) and Faye Wong (王菲) rekindled their relationship in 2014, they’ve kept a relatively low profile. There aren’t too many pictures of them together in public either. However, there have been viral rumors circulating online recently stating the two have broken up and that Nicholas Tse is dating Chinese actress, Yang Mi (楊冪). The rumor also states Nicholas Tse is planning to announce his new relationship in March.

When confronted about the rumors, Nicholas Tse expressed, “Nonsense! We are doing very well. Don’t believe these rumors.” On his relationship with Yang Mi, he says, “We are friends. She also supported “Chef Nic” (十二道鋒味) before, but we only see each other once a few years. The last time we saw each other was at an award ceremony. I really don’t know why there are rumors about us.” When asked if this would affect his relationship with Faye Wong, he said, “Nonsense!” On whether he would get married with Faye Wong because of this incident, he responds, “No.”

Ever since Yang Mi announced her divorce last December, there were several rumors of her dating male celebrities such as Chinese actor, Li Yifeng (李易峰), socialite, Wang Sicong (王思聰), and now Nicholas Tse. Given Nicholas Tse’s responses and attitude towards these rumors, he is very serious about his relationship with Faye Wong.

Last week’s viral rumor stating that China was going to be implementing a ban on all costume dramas sent everyone, including the media industry, into a frenzy. The ban was supposed to be in effect immediately until the end of June. If implemented, the ban would include genres such as “wu xia, fantasy, history, mythology, time travel, biography, palace struggles, and all costume dramas.”

The latest news reports that the strong opposition and reactions the ban caused has led the Chinese National Radio and Television Administration (NRTA) to meet with the three major online platforms (iQiyi, Youku, Tencent) to discuss the ban. Based on these meetings, the NRTA has reconsidered the ban and has implemented a new set of restrictions.

Starting from April onwards, period dramas can resume airing, but must follow three new rules: “Before the 15th of each month, each online platform must go through the local NRTA bureau in accordance with their monthly airing schedule plan. The frequency of costume dramas must be regulated and proportionate. “Realistic” themed dramas must account for 60% of the broadcast plan. If the online license is not obtained, including the issuance license, the star’s license, the record, etc, then the drama cannot be scheduled for an air date or announced.” It is reported the three major online platforms have already signed an agreement on the new terms with the NRTA.

Hong Kong actress and model, Janice Man (文詠珊), is off the market. The 30 year old actress, who has been focusing her acting career in China lately, is getting married to her wealthy boyfriend, Carl Wu (吳啟楠), after five years of dating. The wedding will be held at a castle in Lake Como, Italy on October 12. When Apple Daily reached out to Janice Man, she responded back saying, “I won’t say much right now. Thanks to everyone for their concern.”

According to Apple Daily, the couple is keeping the wedding intimate, only inviting their nearest and dearest. It is said Janice Man wanted to keep the wedding small and considered the trouble in having elders on both sides of the family travel so far for their wedding. After discussing with their families, they decided to have another wedding banquet in Hong Kong for their relatives and friends.

Carl Wu, 35, is said to be a good catch as he is the third generation carrying the family fortune. His family has a history of being in politics and is well known for their businesses (duty free shops), in Shantou, China. It was also reported Janice Man was busy filming and promoting her series in China while preparing for the wedding. Carl Wu would purposely travel to China to discuss the wedding plans with his fiancee since she didn’t have time to travel back to Hong Kong.

Hong Kong actress, Karena Ng (吳千語), has been busy focusing on her career in China. In a recent interview with Apple Daily, she revealed that girls should have their own career. As for her romantic life, she says she is still looking for the one and claims she is single. It looks like she and Brian Sze (施伯雄) are no longer a couple.

Karena Ng got up close and personal with Apple Daily and says at this point in her life she is very clear on what she wants in life. She said, “I slowly realize women need to be their best in society. Career wise, know what you want to do for yourself. When I have a family in the future, I want to continue my career. That’s why I have to work hard now.” When asked if she is putting romance aside, she responds, “It is actually a form of wisdom. How to manage a relationship isn’t easy. It isn’t one sided. Both parties need to compromise. At this point, if I have a chance to date, I hope to find someone who understands me. If he doesn’t, it’ll be hard for us to be together.”

When asked if she has returned to being single, Karena Ng admits, “Yes, I am single. I don’t want to say too much now. When I reach another point, I will reveal more.”
