[MingPao exclusive interview] Time sure flies by, it's already 2010! On this day, January 1st 2010, Angelababy Yang, like an angel, wished everyone a happy new year.

Some say "9" represents endings, and "0" new beginnings, so as she enters the new year, Angelababy rates her past year with a satisfied 80 out of 100. "It's the best results I've had since I entered the entertainment biz," she explained, "I officially signed a contract with Avex last year, which is a pretty big deal. Exactly half of my year was spent not in Hong Kong, mostly I was flying in and out of Hong Kong, Japan and the Mainland. I didn't get much time to rest and my schedule was pretty packed, which definitely affected my health a bit. I was out of town for too long once, and I became heavily homesick, causing me to burst into tears! I thought I was actually getting quite depressed, but luckily my manager and colleagues helped me overcome it and I came back with renewed spirits. I'm starting to get used to the work schedule now."

Baby didn't give up through the difficult days, and instead gained a new understanding. "Most of last year was spent "planting the seeds", and the last half harvesting the fruits of production. When I saw on my bank statement that I earned enough to buy an apartment, I was ecstatic! It definitely cancelled out the hardships I had to endure... the only things I regret are not being able to spend more time with family and friends, and missing out on some important occasions."

Baby is just over 20, but entering the biz at an early age has made her mature very quickly. She claims that she likes working over playing, just like the ancient life motto: "How many more decades does one have in life? Every one of the coming 3650 days is an important day in life."

"The days pass by quickly, this year (2010) I'm already 21, showing that I'm really grown up now. Looking back, the past 20 years that I've sometimes spent lost in video games, wasting time, was a complete waste of time. The next decade will be the best of my years, so I will take advantage of it by working diligently and doing more worthwhile things to ground myself, such as learning to play the piano (as well as idol Jay Chou) and learning Japanese. I think it will help pave my road in the future." Baby is looking forward to turning 21 on February 28th, which will grant a long-held wish. "When I was 19, we went to Las Vegas on vacation, and when I was planning to go to the casinos... only to find out that I wasn't old enough! I hope I can afford to fly to Las Vegas the minute I'm 21 to fulfill my wish."

Acting, and singing

Under the expert hands of Manager Kim, Baby's plans for the new year include continuing to hit the Japanese modelling world earning yen, filming movies and commercials, and possibly even releasing a CD to hit the music industry. "Becoming a singer? Haha, that is still a secret, once it's set it will be announced! As for the movie industry, I have participated in "Hot Summer Days" and "Alls Well, Ends Well 2010". One of them I have to dress demurely and act knowledgeable, and the other rudely comical; both have given me different experiences in acting. Actually I think the best part of acting is being able to change into so many different roles and faces. I really want to act in a science fiction film, because I bet the role will be both fashionable and eye-catching... or try my hand as an assassin, that would be pretty cool too, as long as the character is cool and pretty enough!" 

Widely recognized as a "goddess" by many males, Baby and William's (Chan Wai Ting) names have often been synonymous and one, and they have even been christened as the "Golden Couple". Unfortunately, the rumours have already died down in the past year. For the new year, Baby hopes to find a new interest, and half joked, "If I mention William again everyone will be bored to death! Really, I don't want to bring him up again! Like the old saying, if the old doesn't leave, the new can't come in, it's time to find a new boyfriend!" A young girl with self-claimed "mature tastes", Baby has had rumours with Huang Xiao Ming and Ronald Cheng; perhaps her boyfriend criteria have changed? "Haha! You believe that? I've only met Huang Xiao Ming once, and although I will admit that he is interesting and humorous, we are only friends. His appearance is of course appealing, otherwise, he wouldn't have made the list for China's Most Attractive Male! I've seen his movie "The Message", and agree that his portrayal of a Japanese person is very captivating, and he has good acting skills. As for Ronald, hah! That's even more incredulous, everyone knows he already has a famous, able and beautiful girlfriend, why would I become a third wheel for no reason? When we were filming together, we definitely had fun, he was always telling jokes and making the atmosphere more enjoyable.

Baby's relationship status, which can only be described as "changing" at the moment, actually has a new target... "Twilight: New Moon"'s lead Robert Pattinson! She sees him as her dream boyfriend, and hopes that her future boyfriend has at least half his looks and coolness.
