Yesterday at court, Francis was sentenced for HK$10,000 fine and has a criminal record. Yesterday afternoon at 2:20pm, Francis appeared at the court's entrance wearing a black suit with yellow shaded glasses and a LV wallet. His wife was not seen with him.
Francis' lawyer accompanied him to court and was able to lessen the offense of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. Francis appeared calm in court, when the magistrate read the case, he answered before he/she was done: "I plead guilty". The magistrate then said: "Let me finish first." The case spanned for about 20 minutes, in the end the court sentenced Francis a fine of HK$10,000 and will have a criminal record. The magistrate continued and said that as an artist, Francis should control his temperment and personal emotions. His actions were also said to be a foolish act: "learn your lesson, do not be reckless!" Fortunately there was a change in the alleged charges otherwise, Francis could have been sentenced for imprisonment. However, there was not enough evidence that could prove he was impulsive to commit the crime, so a lighter sentence was given.
In defense, the lawyer said that Francis is a successful artist, a famous figure among the Chinese. He explained, at that time the victim was verbally abusing Mrs. Ng with the use of foul language. Protecting his wife is a man's duty, Francis mistakes are forgiven. When Francis was leaving the court, a large group of reporters surrounded him, causing some confusion. The security guards had to step in to clear up the pathway, asked if he's satisfied with the sentence? Francis did not respond. Asked again, the magistrate told him to control his temperment? He only let out the sounds: "hee hee hee" as a response.
