Wilson Chin directed a new film called Black Comedy, he disclosed for this film, he wanted to tell a story about an angel and a devil. "An angel is not necessarily always righteous, nor is a devil always evil. Sometimes, its the opposite. This is just like a person with good intentions, but ends up making things worse or someone does something bad to help others. There are a lot of gray areas in life." Just like Shirley Yeung, she debuted 13 years ago, but to her 2011 was definitely a black comedy.
Life is Much Happier with a Baby
That year, she made an one-sided announcement that she broke up with her boyfriend Gregory Lee of 9 years. It was said she left Gregory for former Hong Kong driver Andy Ng and was pregnant with his baby. Since then, her previous images of being the most "stingy" Miss HK and a well-behaved girl turned into a big joke. This also caused a heavy impact on her career in showbiz. The following year, Shirley gave birth to her daughter Krystal Yeung in the U.S. To date, Shirley has been unwilling to disclose who the father of her baby is. When asked whether she regretted her decision at that time? She said without hesitation: "No. With a baby in my life, I am much happier. I will not go back and think about whether I should have done it or not. I only think about how I could make life better for my daughter. Also, the next generation is very important because I am not young anymore. I fear I'll be too old to have any children. Now that I have a baby, I can keep maintaining myself to look pretty. It is actually a joy to be a young mother."
Truly No Regrets
Whether Shirley is really happy is just a matter of opinion. The only thing is, Shirley hasn't been able to give her daughter a complete family. Does she feel even a little guilt inside? "I don't think like that. You can be all pitiful, but life still goes on. I tell myself: 'I must be strong.'" Shirley is not worried of her daughter asking who her biological father is when she grows up because she feels her daughter will understand. What about herself? After so many twist and turns, she still hasn't found her Mr. Right, any regret there? "I really don't have any regrets. I already have a daughter. You tell me, what regrets do I have? Many people really hope to pass on the generations, but because of their health, environment or work-related reasons, they can't make it happen. As for me, I already did it. Now, I can really focus on my career."
Willing to Portray a Mistress
When speaking of her career, Shirley had been frozen by TVB for two years. Last year TVB finally unfroze her and gave her the opportunity to participate in new series All the Bitter is Sweet, portraying Linda Chung's step-mother. In reality, she is only 6 years older than Linda. Earlier, she was fortunate to have been spotted by director Wilson Chin. He invited her to participate in his new film Black Comedy, portraying a very bad mistress. She also had a bed scene with Wilson. Shirley said: "I am not worried the mistress role might damage my image. I must give everything a try and I hope to participate in films or TV series of different genres." Could it be possible that it is what the report said, Shirley has to raise her daughter, her parents and a mortgage to pay off that she is willing to "fish up anything" that comes to her? Shirley said: "I didn't give myself that much pressure. My mentality is I will do as much as I can." Let's hope this positive thinking isn't just Shirley trying to tough it out.
