Heung Heung became popular after appearing in her debut TVB series Divas In Distress and she was immediately dubbed "HK Golden's Goddess" by Netizens. Facing the TV crisis and the major decline of FaDans, Heung Heung was chosen by TVB to be the next promoted artist. This year, she had five series on hand and two nominations for the TVB Anniversary Awards -- "Most Improved Actress" and "Best Supporting Actress" for Sniper Standoff. "In the entertainment circle, people often like to compare me with other artists, but I am not greedy, I know I must cherish what I have."
Heung Heung smiled and said she's extremely pleased to be nominated: "I have absolutely no confidence in getting the award. I'm just accompanying the other candidates in the race. I won't give myself pressure, instead I will enjoy this celebration (awards ceremony). I'm pretty lucky, but I still think the most important is doing my best, and I won't focus on the things I cannot control. Sometimes, when one gets too anxious, the opportunity actually slips away. Life is full of changes, just as long as you have a good heart, do your best, love yourself and others, then that is enough."
Heung Heung grew up in Canada. In 2009, she was crowned Miss Vancouver, and ran for Miss Chinese International the following year. When she first step foot in Hong Kong, she was completely unfamiliar with the city and felt really stressed for a period of time. "Many people thought my outer appearance is a Chinese girl, but actually I never touched the Chinese language until I came to Hong Kong. There were so many things I didn't understand, just like I didn't know the street or location names. [At the restaurant], I had a menu in my hand, but didn't know how to order anything. Some people don't understand. At first, I thought its just because I didn't have the understanding, I wasn't stupid, but when I caused so many misunderstands in a day, I began losing self-confidence. I gradually started to agree with what they were saying about me. It wasn't until one day, I discovered I was losing hair and thought I couldn't go on like this, so I decided to let go. I'll leave everything to God."
Claiming to have started from zero, Heung Heung did indeed put in a lot of hard efforts into her work. Since a year ago, when she was filming Divas In Distress, she added Pinyin to 90% of her lines, but today she only needs half of her lines with Pinyin. "Actually, it depends on the topic. If the other person is speaking with a mouthful of Chinese proverbs to me, I would be expressionless."
In the TVB anniversary series The Hippocratic Crush II, producer Poon Ka Tak disclosed Heung Heung ended up paying to film the series. When speaking of this matter, Heung Heung said sincerely: "Watching the whole crew contributing so much into the series, I was infected too. I was just like a student going for tutoring and I hired a translator to help me analyze the script. My elder female cousin recorded the correct pronunciations of my lines, so I could use it to practice. I really want to improve myself. I will continue to work hard on learning Cantonese. I know this is my weakness, once I overcome it, I will have more confidence in my acting. I am still inexperienced, a lot like a sponge, constantly absorbing experience from all aspects in order to prepare myself." Heung Heung doesn't mind the extra work, she's just charging forward towards her goal.
