"I am calling it quits. Before I leave, I want to answer to my fans. I came into this industry using my music and I want to use my music to say goodbye to my fans and thank them.
"Don't worry! I, Dave Wang, am a man of my word. When I say I will go, I won't miss the industry and come back. I won't speak irresponsibly," said Wang confidently.
The 47-year-old singer went on to point out that he will go without make-up and would not have back up dancers or stage effects during this concert tour to focus purely on his singing.
"I want to break away from my usual style ... I want to present myself at my most natural," said Wang.
Wang's announcement comes just weeks after he hinted during a publicity that the concert tour, which kicks off on August 7 in Beijing, would be his swansong and remarked cryptically that the audience should hang on to their ticket stubs.
Wang got his first record deal in 1988 and is best known for singing hits like "A Game, A Dream" and "Do I Really Have Nothing" in the 80s and 90s.
