Juggling multiple tasks in the kitchen and bar and even cleaning the restaurant’s tables, Stephen was extremely busy. Prior to the restaurant’s grand opening, Stephen entered the hospital due to stomach pains. “On July 15th, we ran a pre-opening test. Perhaps I was too busy and grew anxious. On July 14th, Susana Kwan Kuk Ying brought some friends over to try out the dishes. On that day, I felt extremely ill and finally had to go to the hospital at night. The doctor said I had a stomach flu and with two days of rest, I should feel better. The stress has been too much. Since I invested $500,000 (HKD) in the restaurant, I really hope to make a profit within half-a-year. So each day, I will get anxious about performing the best.”
Although there was a great deal of pressure in starting a business, fortunately Stephen had the support of his girlfriend, Peggy, whom he has been dating for one year. On the grand opening day, Peggy acted as the hostess and greeted all their friends. Stephen smiled, “Peggy works in Marketing/ Public Relations; she is helping out with the restaurant’s administrative work.” (Are you a husband and wife team?) “We have to work hard and establish the business first! Perhaps in another three or four years!”
Stephen also had another piece of good news to share. “Earlier, I filmed French movie, Red Nights, which will be entered in an upcoming Toronto film festival. I am thirty-two years-old now and hope for good developments in all areas.”
Francois helped Stephen to greet guests at the grand opening. Oceana Zhu, who lived in France for a period of time was friendly with the Huynh brothers due to their similar language and cultural background.
